The remains of Spc. Vanessa Guillen were found near the Leon River in Texas, bringing an end to the search for the Fort Hood soldier. The attorney for the Guillen family said last week that the family believed the human remains found Tuesday were those of Guillen but a positive identification was pending."The Army has identified the remains of missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen," her family's lawyer said in a statement to ABC News on Sunday evening.On Monday, the Army Criminal Investigative Team confirmed the remains were of Guillen's. “I know I can speak for everyone involved in this tragic situation that we are truly heartbroken for the family, friends and fellow Soldiers of Spc. Guillen,” said Brigadier General Duane Miller, the acting commanding general of the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. “There are no words that can express the sorrow and loss that the family has endured, but we hope in some very small way, the collective efforts of everyone involved in finding Vanessa and working to bring those responsible to justice will help bring some degree of closure to the family who has had to endure this painful and senseless loss.”The two suspects in her disappearance are Spc. Aaron Robinson and Cecily Anne Aguilar, a civilian.According to the affidavit, the suspects allegedly dismembered Guillen's body and attempted to burn it after she was bludgeoned to death by Spc. Robinson.Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, along with the U.S. Marshals, Killeen Police Department, and the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force were attempting to locate Robinson on June 30 when he fled the post.When Robinson was located, officers attempted to make contact him as he produced a weapon and committed suicide by shooting himself. Aguilar has been arrested for tampering/ fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse, a second degree felony. The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) identified Rusten Sheskey as the officer who shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday.The DCI, which provided its first update on the case late Wednesday, nearly 72 hours after the shooting, said its continuing its investigation, but is not pressing charges as of now.The shooting has prompted massive unrest in Kenosha since. The unrest culminated in a shooting incident that killed two people and injured one person on Tuesday amid the late-night demonstration. A 17-year-old was arrested in connection to Tuesday's shooting.In response to Sunday’s shooting, professional athletes in multiple sports boycotted scheduled games. All three NBA Playoff games on Wednesday were postponed, and a MLB game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds was also postponed.Investigators said that Sheskey, who was placed on administrative leave, has been with the police department for seven years.The DCI gave the following description of Sunday’s incident:“During the incident, officers attempted to arrest Jacob S. Blake, age 29. Law enforcement deployed a taser to attempt to stop Mr. Blake, however the taser was not successful in stopping Mr. Blake. Mr. Blake walked around his vehicle, opened the driver’s side door, and leaned forward. While holding onto Mr. Blake’s shirt, Officer Rusten Sheskey fired his service weapon seven times. Officer Sheskey fired the weapon into Mr. Blake’s back. No other officer fired their weapon. Kenosha Police Department does not have body cameras, therefore the officers were not wearing body cameras.”Officials also said that Blake told officers he had a knife. The DCI said that officials later found a knife on the driver's side floor of the car.The only videos of the incident were take bystanders that showed Blake opening his car door before he was shot at a close distance by Sheskey.Blake’s family said on Tuesday that the 29-year-old is partially paralyzed, but was fortunate to survive from his injuries. 2048

The toy run in December is usually one of the big ways Children's Hospital Colorado gets donated toys. But because of COVID-19, the supply of toys is down considerably. So the hospital reached out to some riders, and Sunday, they got a special delivery to help replenish that supply.Kids at Children's Hospital know when they hear those Harley engines roar, toys are on the way."Any motorcycles coming up to the hospital, the kids plaster themselves the windows. They love to see the bikes riding up," volunteer Bob Cuculich said."That's why we do it. It's things like this that make it all worthwhile," organizer Eddie Dane said.But it's not December when this toy run usually happens."Because of COVID this year, the hospital reached out to Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson, because we're a sponsor to the toy run and have been for years," Dane said.Dozens of bikers answered the last minute call to help."They're not reusing toys. So we are are going to replenish their supply and do the best we can to get them some more toys to last them until December," Dane said.They didn't know how many bikers would show. They just knew they needed to try to help the kids."There's a huge need," Cuculich said.But the roars were there, filling up the bins, and they hope more toys can be brought. Just no stuffed animals right now."Plush toys right now, they are just too hard to keep clean, and infection control just makes it a challenge to be able to give those to the kids," Cuculich added.The bikers hope this special delivery makes the kids happy and lasts until the main ride in December. The US House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday to fund more security at schools, exactly one month after a gunman killed 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Florida, and as thousands of students take part in a national walkout in protest of gun violence.While the bill had bipartisan support, many Democrats were frustrated that it doesn't include any gun control measures."This is a pretense that we are doing something while assuring the NRA that we aren't doing anything," Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the second ranking Democrat in the House, told reporters Tuesday.The vote was 407-10.
