SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego Marine is setting out to accomplish something few have, climbing the continent's highest peaks and running a marathon on each one.Major Patrick Holcomb is calling it the 7&7 Challenge.“It’s not really official because up until this point only two people have done it," said Holcomb, who's been in the Marine Corps for 18 years.Holcomb will rely on his rigorous training and gear as he completes the mission.He's already run five marathons on five continents and has climbed three peaks.“Every country you go to you get to experience people and culture, there are a lot of differences around the world," said Holcomb. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was shot multiple times during a dispute over a transaction in the Encanto area, San Diego police said Monday morning.Police said the incident occurred just after 5:30 a.m. in the 6100 Imperial Avenue.According to police, a woman in her 30s suffered several gunshot wounds to her arm and one to her stomach. Her injuries are not considered life threatening, police said.Police said the woman was shot by a man during what was described as a dispute over a transaction. The man was described as a Black man in his 30s, 6 feet 4 inches tall, and weighing 210 pounds.He was last seen wearing a red hoodie and blue jeans.No other details were released. 684

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - About 30 employees and friends of Hess Brewery will shave their heads Saturday to help raise money for pediatric cancer research.The event is a fundraiser for St. Baldrick's, a foundation that focuses on finding a cure for cancer.Brewery owner Mike Hess says the fundraiser is deeply personal, as his daughter Keely has been fighting Osteosarcoma since last August."Help me get rid of this mop! This is the longest my hair has been since I was a kid," Hess says in a video posted to YouTube.The event will be from 2-6 pm at the Hess Brewery and tasting room in North Park. The public is invited, and people can even decide to shave their own heads if they feel so inspired."It breaks my heart," says Beer-Tender Cassia O'Laughlin. "We need money to research so that kids don't have to go through cancer."Childhood cancer affects 300,000 kids per year, according to St. Baldrick's. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman's trip to Mission Bay ended with her, and her car, soaked.The woman, who identified herself as Candy, said she was next to her car on a boat ramp preparing to unload her kayak for a day of fishing and roaming around Mission Bay. Suddenly, her 2002 Audi convertible started rolling as she was unloading gear.Candy jumped into the car and road it into the bay as she tried to get her emergency brake to engage."It just wouldn't. It just kept on going," Candy told 10News. "I was standing straight up in it as it was going down ... quite a scene, I'm sure."The car started sinking into the bay with Candy still inside, before she jumped out to swim back to shore. Her lunch and kayak floated to the other side of the bay as her car became completely submerged, she told 10News."I'm going to have plenty of fish now," she joked. "It's not a big deal, things happen."Two tow trucks were able to fish Candy's vehicle out of the bay and San Diego Lifeguards retrieved her car and kayak, in which she had left her purse and lunch.Candy said she had just purchased the car in November.San Diego Lifeguards reminded locals to exercise caution while using boat ramps. 1216

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A third Marine has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus at MCAS Miramar.The Marine is currently quarantined at his home, MCAS Miramar officials told 10News.Navy medical staff is investigating anyone the Marine may have had contact with, as well.No further information on the base's third case was immediately released.Last week, a Marine tested positive for coronavirus after returning from leave in Washington state where he was visiting family. Then Saturday, the base confirmed a second Marine tested positive for the virus.Those two Marines are currently in isolation and quarantined in an empty barracks that was designated to treat potential cases of COVID-19.MCAS Miramar is currently a quarantine site for individuals evacuated from Wuhan last month and passengers aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship. Those quarantined passengers are being treated by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention staff.The two Marines who had contracted coronavirus last week did not have any contact with cruise passengers, according to the base.
