(KGTV) - A Ramona couple walking their yellow Labrador puppy say they were attacked by two pit bulls Tuesday night, suffering serious injuries.Michael Dougherty was walking with his wife, Dee, in the Kmart parking lot in the 1800 block of Main Street training their puppy, Rueger. Dougherty said it's easier in the parking lot, as there is more light, compared to their rural neighborhood.As they walked toward the Taco Shop, around 7:15 p.m., Dougherty said from the corner of his eye, he saw two pit bulls charging.RELATED: Dog and owner mauled by pit bull during walk in OceansideThey attacked Rueger and his wife, who went down trying to rescue the dog. Dougherty is recovering from a back injury and walks with a cane. He used it as a weapon."I just started beating the dog, beating the dog, until it [the cane] snapped. This fell down alongside the dog and my wife and she grabbed this and was jamming it into the dog's mouth. When this broke I started punching the dog in the head."Eventually they were able to separate all three dogs. No one escaped uninjured. Rap artist Hurricane Chris has been arrested on a murder charge in Louisiana. Shreveport Police say the rapper was arrested Friday after an early-morning shooting at a gas station. In a news release, police say the rapper claimed self-defense after shooting a man he thought was trying to steal his car. But they say video footage appears to show otherwise, and the car was reported as stolen from Texas. Online jail records don't indicate if he has an attorney who can speak on his behalf. The 31-year-old rapper is known for the hit “A Bay Bay.” His real name is Christopher Dooley Jr., and he is from Shreveport. 623

Lee Ermey, the actor known for his Golden Globe-nominated role as an intimidating drill sergeant in "Full Metal Jacket," died Sunday at the age of 74, according to a statement from his manager.Ermey died from complications of pneumonia, according to Bill Rogin, his manager, in a post on Twitter. CNN's calls and emails to Rogin were not returned.Ermey played the role of the tough Gunnery Sgt. Hartman who trains a new group of recruits in the 1987 film "Full Metal Jacket." He received a Golden Globe best supporting actor nomination for his role in the movie directed by Stanley Kubrick.The Vietnam veteran brought authenticity to the role after having spent 11 years in the Marine Corps from 1961 to 1972. He spent two years as a drill instructor at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was medically retired for injuries in 1971 and in 2002 he received an honorary promotion to Gunnery Sergeant, according to a biography on his website. "It is extremely difficult to truly quantify all of the great things this man has selflessly done for, and on behalf of, our many men and women in uniform," Rogin said in a statement issued on Facebook.
