After dozens of puppies were found in rural Pottawattamie County, Iowa with no food and water before being rescued Sunday, authorities ramped up their investigation into Young Gunz Kennel. They obtained a search warrant and confiscated items for several hours Tuesday.Sheriff deputies and animal control personnel hauled away a large number of kennels that were at the unlicensed facility, which was used for obedience and hunting training, as well as dog breeding. Investigators could also be seen snapping photos and collecting additional evidence that they could find at the site, which housed as many as 50 dogs before many of them were found inside their kennels severely malnourished. A total of four dogs have now been found dead, and 10 are missing.Copper was one of the dogs that was rescued on Sunday. When his owner Wil Beach picked him up, Copper had lost 20 pounds and was covered in feces. "He was very scared but still in high spirits, he was the same dog emotionally when I got him (back) than when I dropped him off,” says Beach.Beach says he took Copper and a 0 check to owner Dustin Young in January after high praises from friends. He says he did not suspect anything amiss when he made the drop-off. "When I was there it was neat and clean and organized and he was very talkative and he just seemed like he had a passion for dogs," says Beach.Beach is thankful that his two-year old pup is okay, with no major issues from the abandonment. 1500
Almost a decade ago, Matt Wilson went to the emergency room after experiencing a lot of pain. It was pretty clear he had a kidney stone, but the doctors wanted to take a look to be sure.“After they identified the kidney stone, they told me I had a shadow in my pancreas," said Wilson. That shadow would lead to a few months without answers.“Went through testing and went through months of tests without knowing what it is, but they wouldn’t rule anything out. The months of not knowing were stressful. They were stressful on me, they were on my family,” said Wilson. Finally, after visiting a specialist in Philadelphia, he finally got an answer.“They said I had a cancerous tumor on the tail of my pancreas. I went in for a kidney stone and came out with a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer,” he recalled.Wilson knew he wanted to fight. He underwent surgery to remove part of his pancreas, his spleen, and 21 lymph nodes.Wilson has survived for nine years since his diagnosis. According to the American Cancer Association, the five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is just 9 percent.“It is one of the deadliest cancers,” said Julie Fleshman, the CEO of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. The group raises money and awareness for pancreatic cancer. She wants people to know why it’s such a hard disease to detect.“The symptoms of pancreatic cancer are quite vague. There’s things like stomach pain and back pain, unexplained weight loss. Things that could be associated with other diseases, so it’s not usually the first thing that someone thinks of as oh, maybe it’s pancreatic cancer,” said Fleshman. In addition to unclear symptoms, there’s no early detection test like you might have with other cancers."Usually, by the time it’s diagnosed, it’s late stage. It’s already metastasized or spread to other organs, and it’s more difficult to treat at that point,” said Fleshman. But Fleshman and Wilson hope the efforts of organizations like PanCan will lead to an early detection test and more treatments to help save lives.“I actually really think that it’s possible that in the next decade for us to have an early detection strategy,” said Fleshman.“My hope is that we continue to make advances. That we can have early detection for people for pancreatic cancer in the future, and I think we will get there. And that will continue to improve patient outcomes and improve the survival rate of this disease,” said Wilson. 2435
After multiple news outlets projected that Democrats would take control of the House of Representatives, President Trump called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a show of bipartisanship, CNN reports.Trump's call came just hours after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders indicated to pool reporters Tuesday that Trump would not reach out to Pelosi (D-California)."I'm not sure why you would call Nancy Pelosi considering a lot of people in her own party have said they wouldn't support her," Sanders told pool reporters. "If Democrats win tonight, I think we need to wait and see who their speaker is."Trump attacked Pelosi repeatedly while stumping for Republican House candidates in the lead-up to the midterm elections.A number of Democrats have distanced themselves from Pelosi since 2016. Following the 2016 election, Pelosi faced a challenged from Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) for House Minority leader. 950

The four symptomatic passengers were sent to a local hospital and were quarantined. The Times of India reported that AI officials released a statement saying all the passengers had negative lab results from certified labs when they boarded the plane en route to Wuhan. The Oct. 30 flight marked the sixth time AI had flown to China, and the first time to Wuhan, during the pandemic, Huffington Post reported. On Monday, India's Embassy in Beijing issued a statement saying that the Indian government would assist stranded nationals abroad. However, they did not link its effort to the Oct. 30 travelers to Wuhan."[The] Government of India is facilitating stranded Indian nationals abroad to return to India under Vande Bharat Mission on compelling grounds in a phased manner," government officials said. "As part of this process, Air India is planning to operate four flights to Delhi on Nov. 13, Nov. 20, Nov. 27, and Dec. 4, respectively." 1222
