EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Dozens of dogs and cats landed in El Cajon today, after a flight from Louisiana to Gillespie Field. In July, rescue partners at Acadiana Animal Aid in Lafayette, LA helped rescue animals following floods in the area. This month, they've teamed up with the Wings of Rescue to help overcrowded shelters. The 75 to 90 animals, mostly puppies will go to The Rescued Dog, Labradors and Friends Rescue, San Diego Humane Society, and the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Discussing your salary with co-workers is seen as a taboo subject, but now some people are saying you should be talking openly about how much you make. "I think salaries in the work place have been taboo to talk about for years, and I think that's created a number of problems," says Marcus Ollig, president of the recruiting firm The Advocates. Ollig has been managing employees for years and believes transparency is important. However, he says, sharing your salary with co-workers is not the way to go about it. "You may hear that you are actually paid more than the person you're talking to, and now they ask you the question back, and now, you might not want to share because you don't want to make them feel bad," explains Ollig. Many people we spoke with say they want open dialogue and feel it's healthy in the workplace. However, Ollig says the real question you should find out is are you being paid what you're worth?Instead of going to your co-worker, Ollig recommends going to your boss. They are the only person who can tell you your worth in the company, Ollig says.But before you do, first do some research. Go to online sites like Glassdoor, Pay Scale and The Bureau of Labor Statistics. Those sites will show you the average pay range of someone in your position. "Speak to a really legitimate recruiter or temporary staffing agency, depending on what you do, because they have data on every job that they service," suggests Ollig. Once you're equipped with the knowledge, then it's time to speak to your boss."If your employer says, 'You are doing great, but there is no way I can get you from x to y,' then maybe talk about different positions, if you like the company" Ollig says. EL PASO, Texas - A cathedral in El Paso was vandalized while the church was open and available for prayer Tuesday morning.The Diocese of El Paso says a suspect came into the sanctuary at St. Patrick Cathedral around 10 a.m. and destroyed an almost 90-year-old statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was located in the center behind the main altar.“I am in shock and we at the Cathedral are heartbroken over such an unexpected situation,” said The Rector of St. Patrick Cathedral, Fr. Trini Fuentes.The suspect has been detained by the El Paso Police Department, officials said.“This statue is one of my favorite representations of Jesus—his arms open wide in welcome, his heart aflame with love for us. I would often take inspiration from this image as I prepared for Mass,” said Bishop Seitz. “As sad as I am to see a statue attacked and destroyed, I am grateful that it was not a living person. But a statue, particularly this statue, concretizes and connects us to persons and ideals that are not visible to our eyes. They reveal to us realities that are close to us, but unseen."Officers are currently continuing their investigation into the vandalism.“At this point we do not know anything about the person who carried out this assault, but he certainly must be a person who is greatly disturbed to have attacked this peaceful place in our city and this image of the King of Peace. During an interview on Fox News on Tuesday, President Donald Trump called on Attorney General William Barr to open a corruption investigation into Joe Biden's alleged ties to Ukraine based on information contained in emails reportedly taken from a laptop that may or may not have belonged to Biden's son."We've got to get the Attorney General to act. He's got to act and he's got to act fast. He's got to appoint someone," Trump said Tuesday during an interview on Fox & Friends. "This is major corruption, and this has to be known about before the election."Trump was referring to a report first published in the New York Post last week that was based on emails allegedly recovered from a laptop left at a Delaware computer repair shop. The Post claimed the emails were taken from a laptop belonging to Biden's son, Hunter, and showed that the younger Biden was contacted by the adviser to the board of a Ukrainian energy company, Burisma. In the emails, allegedly, the Ukrainian official thanked Hunter Biden for giving him an opportunity to meet his father.Some Republicans have seized on the story, calling it a "smoking gun." They claim that such a meeting would be a conflict of interest, given Joe Biden's political influence and Hunter Biden's position on Burisma's board.However, the Post's story left several questions about the authenticity of the emails unanswered. The owner of the repair shop, where the laptop was recovered, was unable to identify the computer's owner. The shop owner did say a Beau Biden Foundation sticker was attached to the computer. There's also no evidence that Hunter Biden responded to the email from the Ukranian energy advisor. The Biden campaign says the former Vice President's schedule shows no meetings with that advisor. Finally, the Post said it obtained materials and information for the story from Rudy Giuliani, one of Trump's personal lawyers.Citing sources, The New York Times reported Monday that one of the Post journalists who wrote the story asked that his name not be attached to the article "because he had concerns over the article's credibility."Despite Trump's claim that the emails show Joe Biden has an inclination to use his political office for personal enrichment, Trump and his family have an extensive history of dubious business practices. The New York Times reports that Trump has leveraged the office of the presidency to drive business to his resorts and hotels.Trump's call to action to Barr is just his latest call for the neutral agency to delve into cases that would be politically advantageous to the president. Earlier this month, Trump said he was "disappointed" in Barr for his inaction on voter fraud investigations and his inability to recover emails deleted by Hillary Clinton prior to the 2016 election.Weeks ago, 1,600 former Department of Justice lawyers signed an open letter that claimed Barr was abusing the power of his office to help Trump win reelection. 2959
