BEIJING, June 7 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to maintain high-level interaction with the United States to promote the sustainable, healthy and stable development of bilateral ties, Premier Li Keqiang said on Tuesday.

Liu said the state visit to China by President Gnassingbe had "a historical significance for the cooperation between China and Togo."

China appreciates that the United States has reiterated its one-China policy, hopes Washington will honor its commitment and support the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, he said.

In fact, China was the first country to discover, denominate, develop and control the South China Sea islands. The Chinese people's navigation and trade on the South China Sea and jurisdiction over the area has a history of more than 2,000 years, which provides firm evidence for China's historical rights on the South China Sea.

He called for joint efforts to address overcapacity, seen in certain industries across the world, amid sluggish global economic recovery.
