SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego Loyal SC is scheduled to resume play Saturday evening, facing Sacramento Republic FC at Torero Stadium three days after both teams had games postponed because of positive coronavirus tests by LA Galaxy II.SD Loyal's game Wednesday against LA Galaxy II at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson was postponed after individuals scheduled to be involved in the game tested positive for COVID-19 as part of weekly routine testing, USL Championship announced.The individuals were immediately isolated at home, demonstrating no symptoms, and in good spirits under the care of team physicians, according to the league. All league, local and state health and wellness protocols were being followed, the league reported.USL Championship also postponed Wednesday's Republic FC-Orange County SC game scheduled for Sacramento after the league was notified of a positive COVID-19 test result from a "previous opponent."Republic FC lost to LA Galaxy II, 1-0, last Saturday.USL Championship announced on Thursday that 11 "covered persons" with LA Galaxy II had tested positive in testing conducted Tuesday.USL health and safety protocols require all covered persons to undergo weekly testing. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Tuesday were searching for a man suspected of robbing a taco restaurant in the Mountain View area at gunpoint.It happened shortly before 8:50 p.m. Monday at an eatery on Ocean View Boulevard between South 36th and South 37th streets, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.The thief walked up to the counter, pointed a black handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the register, Buttle said.The clerk complied. The gunman fled out the back door and continued running northbound on South 37th Street with an undisclosed amount of cash, he said.No injuries were reported.The bandit was described as a 5-foot-4 Hispanic man in his 20s with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded windbreaker with a white collar.Robbery detectives were investigating the incident.v 815

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt will change its home port from San Diego to Bremerton, Washington, ahead of scheduled maintenance slated for next summer, the Navy announced Wednesday.The ship, which is currently deployed in the Western Pacific, will enter Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for scheduled maintenance known as docking planned incremental availability, or DPIA.Lt. Travis Callaghan said the maintenance required to maintain the Nimitz-class carrier's service life is more involved than what can be done pier- side in San Diego. DPIA involves putting the ship in drydock and will require facilities, equipment and personnel available in Bremerton, Callaghan said.The carrier recently resumed its scheduled deployment in the Indo- Pacific after spending months docked in Guam due to the widespread COVID-19 outbreak aboard the ship.The ship originally departed San Diego on Jan. 17 for a deployment, but was diverted to Guam on March 27 when the outbreak took hold, ultimately infecting more than 1,100 sailors, and killing one, Chief Aviation Ordnanceman Charles Thacker, 41.Navy officials said the carrier now operates with a new COVID-19 standard operating procedure, which modifies how crew members move through the ship, expands meal hours and establishes new social distancing procedures. 1337

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Prior to today's San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl, the Port of San Diego will host the annual Solar Turbines 5K run/walk and the Holiday Bowl Parade along Harbor Drive.The Port will host the 24th annual Solar Turbines 5K run and walk at 9:45 a.m. and the parade at 10 a.m. Participants in the 5K will run and walk from the corner of Harbor Drive and Ash Street to Ruocco Park. The parade will begin in front of the County Administration Building and process south down Harbor Drive to its intersection with Pacific Highway.According to Port officials, the parade will include 29 giant balloons, 10 marching bands and multiple floats and drill teams. The marching bands from Northwestern University and the University of Utah, the two teams playing in the Holiday Bowl, will perform during the parade."The Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade is one of the Port's signature events, bringing approximately 100,000 spectators, including many from out of state, to the beautiful San Diego bayfront," said Board of Port Commissioners Chairman Rafael Castellanos. "It's a wonderful way to activate the waterfront and to add an economic boost to the region."County Supervisor Ron Roberts will serve as the parade's grand marshal.
