MIAMI — All of South Florida is now in the cone of concern for Hurricane Eta, which hammered Nicaragua on Tuesday.According to the 4 a.m. ET update from the National Hurricane Center, Eta is packing maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.The NHC said Eta will rapidly weaken as the storm moves farther inland over Nicaragua and Honduras.The forecasts project the storm will curve and emerge over the northwestern Caribbean Sea on Thursday night or Friday. Once it does, forecasters said it could re-strengthen into a tropical storm.By Sunday at 7 p.m., the center of Eta will be just south of Florida with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.According to meteorologists for Scripps station WPTV in Palm Beach, Florida project that there will be a higher confidence on Friday for the potential impacts in South Florida."Computer models are in fairly good agreement, but the timing is different," said WPTV chief meteorologist Steve Weagle said. "Some are much faster, bringing the rainfall in on Friday. Others a lot slower, bringing it in on Saturday."At that point, Weagle said the forecast is calling for tropical storm conditions over the weekend with heavy rain and gusty winds.Weagle said rain bands will likely arrive later on Friday, loosely tied to Eta and a weak front over Cuba. MALIBU (CNS) - More Malibu residents forced to flee the Woolsey Fire were back home today, in time to face a rain forecast for Wednesday that raises fears of possible mudslides as the estimated date for full containment of the fire was moved back to Thursday.Since erupting Nov. 8 in Ventura County and quickly spreading into Los Angeles County, the fire has charred 96,949 acres and was 94 percent contained by Monday morning, up from 91 percent earlier in the day.Full containment had been projected to occur Sunday, but that estimate was initially pushed back to Monday and then to Thursday.RELATED: Frantic search goes on for missing after Camp FireThe number of structures destroyed across the two counties has been raised to 1,500, with 341 damaged. About 95 percent of the burn area assessment has been completed. Nearly 1,100 firefighters remained in the battle, including nine hand crews, patrolling the burned area in search of hot spots to put out, fire officials said.Seven helicopters and eight bulldozers were in use. The death toll stands at three civilians, and three firefighters have been injured. Post- fire areas adjacent to mountains and hills are known for their ability to produce rock and debris flows, which can form quickly.Additionally, areas not prone to flooding may now be at larger risk because of higher than normal flows from streams and rivers. In preparation for rain -- anticipated Wednesday night into Thursday -- officials in Los Angeles and Ventura counties have transitioned into emergency response mode, with an emphasis on debris, flood fighting and support activities. Those activities include the monitoring of all flood facilities and equipment, the operation of debris dams and providing logistics support, field operations and responses to emergencies. Sandbags and sand were being made available to all residents at Los Angeles County and Ventura County fire stations. Michigan State Police say they have a trooper who has been hit by cars 11 separate times while on the job.That trooper, who works out of the Oak Park station, has been with the department for 25 years and is still patrolling today knowing every traffic stop is putting his life on the line."He's been hit in his patrol car and also struck standing on the side of the road,” said MSP Lt. Mike Shaw.Shaw admits that it might be a record, but said he doesn't know any officer who hasn't been hit by a another car while on the job.“I’ve been hit, the troopers standing behind me have all been hit. It’s not ‘if’ it’s a ‘when’.”He said traffic crashes are the number one cause of death for law enforcement patrol officers.Today first responders from across south east Michigan met to highlight the state's Move Over Law."It's a very simple law to go by," he said. "If you can move over, move over. If you can't then slow down and get by, keep your eyes on the road, don’t stare and gawk and see.”It's a campaign that includes all first responders, police, fire fighters, ambulances and any tow truck drivers assisting someone on the side of the road.Just last week a Michigan State Trooper's car was hit, as it was parked on the side of I-96 near Fullerton.
