An Atlanta police officer has been fired following the fatal shooting of a black man and a second officer was placed on administrative duty. The move announced by police early Sunday comes on the heels of the resignation of Atlanta's police chief following the killing of 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks. Police identified the fired officer as Garrett Rolfe. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said she doesn’t believe the shooting was justified. An autopsy performed on Kirkersville, Ohio police chief James Hughes Jr. revealed that the chief died of an accidental drug overdose from fentanyl, which he allegedly obtained from the police's evidence room, the Newark Advocate reported. Hughes died on May 25 after he was found unresponsive in his bathroom. An investigation conducted by police in nearby Reynoldsburg, Ohio alleged that Hughes took the drugs from the police evidence room as part of evidence involving other cases. The autopsy was performed by the Franklin County Coroner's Office in Columbus. Hughes was named chief of police on March 13, despite a checkered record, according to the Advocate. The Advocate reported that Hughes was found guilty of disorderly conduct in 2013 when Hughes allegedly yelled racial slurs at fast food employees. Investigators in Reynoldsburg said that from this point, the Ohio Attorney's General Office should handle the investigation.  999

Another nationwide retailer is filing for bankruptcy amidst the pandemic.Stein Mart filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protections Wednesday, citing the current situation in retail during the coronavirus pandemic.“The combined effects of a challenging retail environment coupled with the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have caused significant financial distress on our business,” said Hunt Hawkins, Chief Executive Officer of Stein Mart, Inc. in a statement from the company. “The Company lacks sufficient liquidity to continue operating in the ordinary course of business.
