WASHINGTON — The federal government is outlining a sweeping plan to make COVID-19 vaccines available for free to all Americans, but polls show a strong undercurrent of skepticism across the country. In a report Wednesday to Congress and an accompanying “playbook” for states and localities, federal health agencies and the Defense Department are sketching out complex plans for a vaccination campaign to begin gradually in January or later this year, eventually ramping up to reach any American who wants a shot. According to The Associated Press, facets of the playbook include:Most COVID-19 vaccines will require two shots to be taken three to four weeks apart. Those who receive these vaccines will need to receive doses made by the same drugmaker.Early in the vaccination campaign, supplies will be limited and will be reserved for health care and other essential workers, as well as vulnerable groups. Later phases of the campaign would expand distribution to the entire country.The vaccine will be free to those who receive it, thanks to funding allocated by Congress and the Trump administration.States and local communities will handle distributing the vaccine, and must submit plans to the federal government in about a month's time.The vaccination campaign faces an uphill battle from a skeptical public. An AP poll taken in May found only about half said they would get a COVID-19 vaccine. WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump traveled to Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Tuesday -- a city still reeling from social unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake. Democratic Nominee Joe Biden has not visited yet although he said he was looking into it on Monday. Trump's visit to Kenosha comes days after the president stopped in Louisiana following the landfall of Hurricane Laura. But do presidential visits during a crisis help or hurt the community? "If I was doing his security, I would advise against it," Grant Whitus, a retired SWAT team leader in Colorado said. Whitus has protected presidents in the past and is a Trump supporter. Whitus says when a president comes to town, hundreds of officers need to be reassigned. "Their resources are already stretched to the max trying to deal with this," Whitus added. Many Wisconsin leaders feel the same way. Gov. Tony Evers (D) of Wisconsin wrote to the president unsuccessfully asking him to cancel his trip. Visits to areas in crisis have been a signature of Trump's since taking office. During his 2016 campaign, Trump visited Louisiana and their flood devastation a full four days before siting President Barack Obama made the trip. When asked if Trump was visiting Kenosha for political reasons, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said no. "The president is showing up to see hurting Americans," McEnany said. VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Michael Yager says he was outraged after learning his son, Jacob, bullied multiple classmates at New Smyrna Beach Middle School in Volusia County, Florida. "I figured I would teach him a lesson that would embarrass him and make him feel the way kids feel," he said.Wanting to teach his 13-year-old a lesson the frustrated father took an unorthodox approach. "I wrote the sign, I'm a bully. Honk if you hate bullies." Yager drove his son to nearby State Route 442 and parked him on a busy corner.His son had to hold the sign high."Embarrassed and kind of nervous," Jacob admitted.He says it did not take long for people to start honking.  Some even stopped to talk to father and son."I had Edgewater Police stop by, I had Volusia County Sheriffs. I had a good response from the neighborhood," Jacob's father said.But he acknowledged not everyone agrees with his parenting. "I had one woman come up and call me every name in the book. "How do you respond to parents who say putting your son out on the road is, in fact, bullying your own son?" he was asked."In my mind, I was doing the right thing, but I guess you cannot please everybody," Michael Yager said. A recent staggering statistic shows one out of every five students report being bullied. Jacob said he has learned a valuable lesson. "You never know what someone can be going through. It's really unfortunate."But a Nickelodeon spokesperson refuted that claim Friday afternoon, saying that the show has not been canceled.Also, Lego is still selling Lego City Police Stations on its website.Paw Patrol is a children’s cartoon that shows dogs in rescue situations. The cartoon includes dogs working as police officers, firefighters and other rescue type jobs. VISTA (CNS) - A man was shot in the knee by someone in a passing car while walking in a Vista neighborhood, authorities said Saturday.The 38-year-old victim said he was walking at about midnight Friday in the 1100 block of North Santa Fe Avenue and looked down to retrieve an item from a bag, according to Sgt. Adrian Moses of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.As he looked down, he heard a loud bang and fell to the ground with a gunshot wound to his knee, Moses said.A witness heard the gunshot and saw a white Nissan Sentra driven by a woman with a male passenger leave the area on North Santa Fe Avenue, the sergeant said.The victim was taken to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Moses said.There was no surveillance video immediately available and detectives from the Vista sheriff's station were investigating the shooting. 903
