ANAHEIM, Calif. (KGTV) - "Toy Story" fans will be "eternally grateful" when they visit Disneyland's Tomorrowland this summer. In honor of Pixar Fest, the park will transform Redd Rocket's Pizza Port into "Toy Story's" Alien Pizza Planet, featured prominently in the Pixar animated movies.Pizza Planet is most memorable for its host of little green aliens who worshipped "the claw" (a claw machine) and expressed gratitude upon their rescue from the pizza place (repeating "we are eternally grateful.")RELATED: Several Downtown Disney businesses to close for 700-room hotelAmong the delicious pizza additions will be a specialty pepperoni-green pepper pizza and cheeseburger pizza. The latter of which includes ketchup, yellow mustard and pizza sauce with cheese, slider patties, a house-made burger sauce, and pickles. The change is just one of the park's ways of celebrating Pixar Fest from April 13 through Sept. 3. The festival will cover both Disneyland and California Adventure parks. The festival will also feature the opening of Pixar Pier, where guests can run around with characters from "Toy Story," "The Incredibles," "WALL-E," and "Inside Out." The park will also bring back their Paint the Night parade and introduce a new Pixar-themed fireworks show. 1289
An officer-involved shooting resulted in a fatality at a Baton Rouge apartment complex Monday evening, according to a Louisiana State Police spokesman. The Baton Rouge police officer was escorting an employee from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to the Palms apartment complex when a struggle ensued, culminating in the fatal shooting, spokesman Bryan Lee told reporters at a news conference.Lee did not specify whether the victim was involved in the DCFS visit to the apartment complex. A large crowd gathered near the shooting scene, according to CNN affiliate WBRZ.The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab and East Baton Rouge District Attorney's Office are currently at the apartment complex investigating the incident, according to Lee.The identities of the shooting victim and officer are not being released at this time, but Lee told reporters the officer sustained a minor injury and was wearing a body camera at the time of the shooting.Shooting victim 'not handcuffed'East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar C. Moore, III told reporters the victim in Monday night's officer-involved shooting was not handcuffed at the time he was shot."We really are early on in this investigation, state police are here doing the job they always do," Moore said. "From all the indications that we have, from video, from statements, that is not the case, he was not handcuffed when he shot."Moore said the shooting occurred after a long struggle with officers at the apartment complex around 6 p.m. CT Monday night.A Taser was deployed an unknown number of times and there was a struggle between the victim and officers over the Taser and weapons prior to the shooting, according to Moore.Mayor: Don't jump to conclusionsBaton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome urged residents to "withhold judgment" on the shooting, asking that they instead let the Louisiana police complete its investigation."As mayor-president of this city and parish, I am closely monitoring the Baton Rouge Police Department officer-involved shooting that took place tonight, Weston Broom said in a statement."Per protocol, the Louisiana State Police (LSP) is investigating this case. I am sure that the LSP will demonstrate the highest level of transparency throughout this investigation. I ask that the community withhold judgment on this incident until the LSP concludes its work."Baton Rouge is the city in which Alton Sterling, a black resident whose death at the hands of police sparked huge protests in the city.Sterling, 37, was killed by police in July 2016. He was shot outside a convenience store after police responded to a call about a man threatening another man with a gun.Cellphone video showed Sterling pinned to the ground by the white officers before he was shot, but police said he was reaching for a gun.His death helped spur nationwide protests against excessive force by police. A Missouri man ambushed and killed three law officers and wounded three others in the Louisiana city in the weeks following Sterling's death. No federal charges against the officers were filed following his death as prosecutors determined there wasn't enough evidence to warrant civil rights charges against Baton Rouge police officers Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II. 3281
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Nikki McKibbin, a singer from Texas best known for her third-place finish in the first season of “American Idol,” has died. She was 42.McKibbin’s husband, Craig Sadler, confirmed her death in a Facebook post, saying that she had died after suffering a brain aneurysm on Wednesday and was taken off life support early Sunday.McKibbin appeared on “American Idol” in 2002, finishing behind Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson, who won the competition.A 23-year-old from Grand Prairie, Texas, McKibbin impressed the judges with soulful performances of songs by Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks and others.Guarini took to Instagram on Sunday to pay his respects."Rest well, 'Gypsy'...and thank you for the laughter, merciless teasing, strength, vulnerability, love and friendship you showed me during our time together in the spotlight," wrote Guarini in a post. View this post on Instagram @realnikkimckibbin was a fiery, funny lady who could sing the Hell out of a rock song with the same kind of ease and command she lovingly used to cut you with her twangy Southern wit. ? ? Even in our 20’s when we were on American Idol together I could tell that she’d had a challenging life, and that not that many people had been kind to her along the way...? ? ...but I’ll never forget the day that her idol, Stevie Nicks, sent her flowers with a card that said “You are the Gypsy that I was...”. Nikki was on cloud nine and the joy and excitement that radiated from her was infectious. After the kind of emotional beating she took at the hands of the masses, she deserved to feel good about herself, even for a little while. ? ? Rest well, “Gypsy”...and thank you for the laughter, merciless teasing, strength, vulnerability, love and friendship you showed me during our time together in the spotlight. #rip #americanidol A post shared by Justin Guarini (@justinguarini) on Oct 31, 2020 at 3:48pm PDT The competition TV show released the following statement regarding McKibbin’s death:“Nikki McKibbin was an incredible talent and we are deeply saddened by the news of her passing. She was part of our American Idol family and will be truly missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.” 2264
An attorney for Siraj Wahhaj said he has seen no evidence to support the allegation that his client's children were being trained on a New Mexico compound to carry out school shootings.Wahhaj was one of five adults arrested on August 3 on the compound outside of Taos following the discovery of 11 malnourished children -- nine of whom were Wahhaj's. The five adults each face 11 counts of child abuse. The remains of a young boy were found on the compound on August 6, but it's still not clear if they belong to Wahhaj's missing son, Abdul-Ghani.In court documents, New Mexico prosecutors said the adults were training the children to commit school shootings. But Wahhaj's lawyer, Thomas Clark, said that he has seen nothing in evidence so far to support the accusation. If anything, the children were trained to protect the compound, Clark said.Wahhaj and his four co-defendants are scheduled to appear in a Taos courtroom Monday afternoon for a preliminary hearing.The-CNN-Wire 986
Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz has admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with a female reporter, three days after she made online allegations against the married Berkowitz. In a statement, Berkowitz apologized to the people of Anchorage for a “major lapse” in judgment in having what he said was a consensual, inappropriate messaging relationship with TV anchorwoman Maria Athens. The acknowledgment comes at the end of three days that roiled Alaska’s largest city, a span that saw both his denial of accusations Athens made on Facebook and her arrest. It was not immediately clear what the messages involved and how long it lasted. Berkowitz declined an interview with The Associated Press. 710
