A Buffalo Public School student’s mother wants answers after she says her son’s teacher dragged him down several stairs. “She was dragging him down the stairs by his knees,” said Tasha Dixon. Dixon says she didn’t witness what happened but someone else did, prompting an internal investigation by the district. “I had received a call from the principal and she said my son had been involved in an incident.” She says her son Malik is in a 611 class, which is for special education students. She says Malik also has a disability. “He asked her to go to the bathroom and she told him no because she felt he didn’t need to go. He sat down and she insisted he move so she took him by the legs and thumped him down a couple stairs.” Dixon says she met with the school principal, who she says indicated an eyewitness came forward to administrators about what happened. During that meeting she says she was told since it happened in a hallway, cameras captured the event, however; she was not allowed to see the video because it is property of the district. “In a closed meeting she said it wasn’t a good video,” Dixon said. “How can you have the audacity to touch my son?” A spokesperson for Buffalo Schools says the district did a month-long investigation and found the claims against the teacher unfounded. The teacher returned to school Friday, more than a month after the incident. Dixon kept her son home from school Friday. We asked the district to see the video. Our request was denied. A Kingman animal hospital helped deliver 19 Great Dane puppies from one mother on Saturday morning. Kingman Animal Hospital says all of the puppies were delivered successfully, and are alive and healthy. The mother dog was also doing well after the C-section. Eleven staff members at the animal hospital helped perform the surgery and checked the puppies afterward for any issues. “Thank you all for the kind words and congrats to the momma dog and our hard working staff that came in for this emergency,” their Facebook post read. 544

A kidnapping victim chewed through a telephone cord to escape captivity recently, according to police records. Phoenix police report that on August 23 a man, later identified as 54-year-old Michael Darrell Thorning went to a motel room near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road. He went to a room where the victim had allowed him to spend the night a few days prior due to the excessive heat. After using the phone, Thorning allegedly pulled a box cutter out and threatened the victim. They fought over the box cutter, but soon Thorning had the victim tied to a chair with a phone cord and blindfolded him. Thorning reportedly stole the victim's cash, debit card, and PIN. Thorning then withdrew 0 in cash from nearby ATMs, police say. According to court records, the victim "was able to free himself by chewing through a cord." He then went to the motel front desk for help. Police distributed pictures of Thorning taken from the ATM cameras to nearby businesses. A few days later police got a tip from a motel manager in the area, that Thorning was in their parking lot. Upon his arrest, Thorning allegedly admitted to tying up the victim, stealing his debit card and withdrawing money. He has been charged with kidnapping and robbery. 1250
