OCEANSIDE (CNS) - Two vehicles crashed Saturday on College Boulevard underneath state Route 78 in Oceanside, killing at least one person.The California Highway Patrol reported a blue Tesla and red sedan collided at 3:04 p.m., causing one of them to overturn and land on its roof on College.Medics and officers from the Oceanside Police Department were on scene trying to extract the two occupants of the overturned vehicle, the CHP said. Officers were shutting down traffic in the area.A San Diego County coroner was at the scene of the crash to investigate, the CHP said.No further information was immediately available. 629

Oklahoma teachers have been rallying at the state Capitol for eight days, but on Wednesday, many showed up for a new reason -- to register to run for office.The window to file candidacy opened at 8 a.m. as dozens of people lined up to turn in their paperwork.Laura Griesel, who was at the Capitol for most of last week, feels that many legislators are not hearing her concerns. The best way to change that, she believes, is to become a representative herself."If nothing else I would listen to the people that live in my district, and what they want to do," she told CNN. "And be open to what it is that they want to see happen in Oklahoma, and not necessarily what my own personal standpoint is on things."They say a change is neededGriesel teaches seventh and eighth grade science at El Reno Public Schools. She feels frustrated that there are not enough textbooks for students to take home and study with. She also has to apply for grants and donations in order to get basic lab equipment for her classroom."And it seems insane to me that we have to go to those lengths to get basic supplies. Things that every student across the world should have -- textbooks," the 32-year-old added.With a 3-year-old child and another on the way, Griesel also worries about making ends meet on her and her husband's teacher salaries. They desperately believe a change is needed.So her sister-in-law, a legislative assistant at the Capitol, encouraged her to join the race when a state representative seat opened in District 41. The skateboarder and Birdhouse Skateboards have teamed with Black Plague Brewing in Oceanside to create the aptly named, "Tony Hawps IPA." The brew is described as smooth beer brewed with Simcoe and Amarillo hops for a piney foundation and dry-hopped with Citra and Centennial hops for an orange aroma with hints of grapefruit."Tony Hawk is such an icon; we wanted to partner with him to create something authentic to connect with skate fans and skateboarders. " says Jordan Hoffart, a pro skateboarder and president of Black Plague Brewing. One company took its recycling efforts a little too far and upped the "gross factor" to levels never seen before.Police in Vietnam seized a reported 345,000 used condoms... yes, used... from a warehouse where they were being cleaned and resold as new.Video from a local broadcaster showed large bags of used condoms strewn across the warehouse, the BBC reports.The used condoms were taken to the warehouse where they were washed and reshaped before being repackaged. On Sunday, tension escalated at the US-Mexico border as U.S. officials launched tear gas at a group of migrants rushing the border. Now, thousands of migrants are staying in temporary shelters across the border in Tijuana and Mexicali, hoping to claim asylum in America.For Edwin Hernandez, Carmen Lopez and their two children, it was an unimaginable journey to get to the border.“For us, it's hard,” Hernandez says. “We never thought we'd do this.”The family traveled 2,500 miles by foot from their home in Honduras to the border town of Tijuana.  The family formed a human chain, locking arms, and began their long trek, all in hopes of seeking asylum in the United States. Hernandez says they needed to leave due to escalating problems in their home country.“Problems involving gangs and extortion,” Hernandez explains.Hernandez says he’s already seen two of his own cousins murdered by gangs, and he worries for his two children, ages 7 and 12.“The problem is, I’m just always thinking of the kids,” Hernandez says. “I think to myself, what's the point of doing this? I'm doing this for my two children and for her.”The family wasn’t at the border when tear gas was deployed on migrants trying to cross illegally on Sunday, but they saw the images.“I would not want that to happen to my kids, or to me or to my husband. So, I would rather wait,” says Lopez.They want to make sure they enter legally by asking for asylum at an official checkpoint.Right now, the closest thing they have to an official document is a piece of paper they received from a checkpoint with their places in line. They are numbers 1,463 and 1,464.“Of course we’re scared, but what can we do?”  Hernandez says.For now, they family will wait at a shelter, where their children can go to a small school.“It really depends on them and how long they have us wait,” says Lopez. “I don't know.”  1889
