(KGTV) — Ventura Police have arrested a suspect wanted for killing a 55-year-old man in the Midway District on Thanksgiving Day.Forrest Robert Brantley, 38, was taken into custody in Ventura, police announced Wednesday, one day after San Diego Police released his photo to the public.On Nov. 28, SDPD says they received a call about a man who was severely injured in the 3100 block of Sports Arena Boulevard. Officer arrived to find Robert Frank Erbe with severe trauma to his neck.RELATED: Police identify man killed in Midway District stabbingMan stabbed to death in Midway District shopping centerErbe was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. Police said he was a transient in the area.During the investigation, police learned that Brantley and Erbe got into some sort of fight inside the Midway District 7-Eleven location, ending with Erbe being stabbed to death in the neck.Brantley was described as wearing blue digital camouflage pants and a blue hospital surgical mask at the time of the stabbing. 1035

(KGTV) – The Drug Enforcement Administration in Los Angeles County announced a record-breaking seizure of narcotics on Wednesday.The DEA’s Los Angeles Division stated agents seized about 893 pounds of cocaine, 13 pounds of heroin, and 2,224 pounds of methamphetamine.The meth seizure is the largest domestic methamphetamine seizure in DEA history, officials said.DEA Acting Administrator Timothy Shea said, "This is enough dope to prove a dose of meth for every man, women and child in the United States and Mexico. Study after study shows that where there is meth addiction, there is also an uptick in violent crime, including robberies, assaults and murders."Operation Crystal Shield is a nationwide effort involving 70 to 80 investigators in nine cities including Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix and Atlanta. Agents seized more than 4,800 pounds of meth nationwide and are still working on more arrests, according to the DEA.The Southern California seizure occurred on Oct. 2, 2020, officials said. Agents from Southwest Border Group 2 began investigating a large-scale drug trafficking organization with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel in SD Otay-Mesa area, allegedly involved in the transportation and delivery of large quantities of drugs.The investigation led to search warrants at multiple narcotic stash houses in Moreno Valley and Perris in Riverside County, officials said.The drugs were intended for distribution in Southern California, including Los Angeles, according to DEA officials, who displayed the haul at the agency's warehouse in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles County.City News Service contributed to this report 1645

A 50-year-old woman sabotaged Australian supermarket strawberries with sewing needles in an alleged act of workplace revenge, prosecutors told a Brisbane court Monday.My Ut Trinh has been charged with seven counts of contamination of goods and faces up to 10 years in jail if convicted.Trinh's arrest Sunday followed at least 100 reported cases of sewing needles or pins found in strawberries across the country earlier this year, sparking nationwide panic. Metal was also found in a banana, an apple and a mango, which the government believed to be isolated "copycat" cases or hoaxes.Trinh is reportedly a former supervisor at the Berrylicious and Berry Obsession farm in Wamuran, north of Brisbane. Police will allege she felt mistreated by colleagues and had spoken to coworkers about taking revenge, according to CNN affiliate Nine News.The Queensland Strawberry Growers Association (QSGA) has welcomed Trinh's arrest, but called for copycat offenders to also face charges. The case against Trinh only relates to six or seven punnets of strawberries."It was a crisis driven by social media and the only real victims were the strawberry growers, and to some extent other Australian fruit growers and exporters," the association said in a statement.Queensland Police said it had conducted a "complex" national investigation "with multiple government, law enforcement and intelligence agencies" in order to zone in on Trinh.Trinh was not granted bail. A baboon that was being transported escaped its cage Monday afternoon and ran loose in San Antonio International Airport, officials said.An airport spokesman said the baboon was cornered in the baggage handling area of Terminal B.American Airlines released a statement, saying the baboon was being taken to an animal sanctuary and refuge in the San Antonio area."We are working closely with the San Antonio Aviation Department and officials from the San Antonio Zoo. Officials from the zoo are now on-site to ensure his safety and well-being as he continues his journey to his new home at the primate sanctuary," the statement read.The baboon arrived on a flight from Chicago, according to American and CNN affiliate KSAT.No passengers or flights have been affected.
