BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- China is prepared for the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) that will run from Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai, Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Bingnan said Tuesday.

French companies are eagerly looking forward to taking the opportunity of China's expanded opening-up, further entering into the Chinese market, expanding exports of agricultural products to China, and strengthening cooperation in areas such as aviation, aerospace, and civilian nuclear energy, as well as sci-tech innovation and finance, he said.

Facing the complicated situation of rising risks and challenges both at home and abroad this year, China has maintained sustained and sound economic and social development, said the meeting.

Legislators also heard reports on the inspection of the enforcement of the higher education law and the deliberations of several NPC committees and reviewed a report on Li Zhanshu's visits to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.
