SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in San Ysidro and Tijuana are fearful of what will come next after hundreds of migrants rushed the border Sunday in a show of force.Commuters told 10News they fear that they won’t be able to get across a bridge in San Ysidro to work or cross over to see family. In Mexico, residents say they’re fed up with the flood of migrants. “Deport them back to where they are, let them over here. They need to get out of Tijuana because it's just crazy for us,” said Candace Sanchez, a Tijuana resident. On the US side, those with family south of the border are concerned with what the future holds. “It worries me that the border might get closed. I mean it's like uh what's going on? We've never really seen this before,” said Victor Juarez.Employees who depend on their jobs in the US are also frightened. “Kinda scary because you know, I mean, every day we just know that we have to do what we have to do every day just to survive,” said Dana Aviles. Many people missed a day of work due to Sunday’s border closure, taking a toll with the holiday gift-giving season approaching. “I just hope they get out of here in Tijuana and let our lives be normal again, you know,” added Sanchez. 1213

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego is among 25 counties throughout the nation at risk for a measles outbreak, according to a new report. According to the University of Texas, a paper published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases warns that the epidemic will worsen. The analysis considered a county’s volume of international travel from foreign countries as well as non-medical exemptions for children. RELATED: More than 800 cases of measles in US, with NY outbreak continuing to lead“We have long known that vaccine avoidance is a critical public health issue in the U.S. and Europe. Our results show how travel from regions elsewhere compounds this risk,” said the study’s lead author, Sahotra Sarkar.Sarkar’s team accurately predicted major outbreaks in areas of Washington, Oregon and New York. Cook County, Illinois, Los Angeles County, Miami-Dade County and Queens County, New York are among the most at-risk areas for an outbreak in the US, the report says. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas & Electric this week turned off power to tens of thousands of customers due to high wind conditions, but almost three days into the shutoff, some customers say they’re running out of options and need their power back now.East County resident Cynthia Chisum told ABC 10News, “It isn’t fun. We’ve lived in this house for 45 years. So, I know about power outages. But we’ve never had one of these preemptive power outages.”Chisum isn’t new to red flag warnings and what that comes with, as precautions are taken to make sure everyone stays safe. But this time Chisum is running out of options. Her family has been relying on candles, lamps, and battery powered equipment to make it through. Their big problem is the freezer -- without any power, their food is close to rotting.“We have a freezer full of fish that my husband caught during a fishing trip and we hate for all that to go spoiled,” Chisum said.Chisum said it was windy Wednesday night, but since then it’s been calm. That’s why she believes her power should be restored quickly.SDG&E posted an update on their website laying out their restoration plans, saying “crews are conducting visual inspections of each impacted circuit to determine whether there were any wind related damage before power can be restored.”The utility also said crews are looking for safety hazards such as downed lines, debris or tree branches caught in power lines. If no damage is found, power can be restored quickly. For those impacted by the outages, SDG&E has set up drive-thru resource centers where customers can get water and snacks or charge devices. 1646
