SEATTLE, Wash – Amazon announced Tuesday that it would be launching a billion venture capital fund to invest in companies that are building products, providing services and creating technology to decarbonize the economy and protect the planet from climate change.The company hopes The Climate Pledge Fund will enable it and other companies to meet The Climate Pledge, a commitment to be net carbon neutral by 2040.Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge with Global Optimism last year. The pandemic has been, in a sense, a chronic trauma almost for all of us and everyone has experienced it differently," says Dr. Christina Conolly, with the National Association of School Psychologists.Dr. Conolly says parents should vary how they talk to their children about the pandemic and attending school, according to their age."For myself, I have a rising 6th grader, 11-year-old, so in talking to her, she understands what’s going on and I want to be honest and truthful but I may not share with her every single detail of what’s going on just because of the fear and anxiety that can come about," says Dr. Conolly.Details to omit include death tolls and what's happening worldwide. Instead, focus on what's happening in your community. For teenagers, many will already have an idea of all the ups and downs of the COVID-19 pandemic, because of their access to cellphones and the internet. Dr. Conolly advises making sure the content they're watching is factual. Younger kids will need reassurance and transparency of what school will look like and what's expected of them."For little kids, it's okay to share with them what’s going on with the pandemic but talk to them in terms of we are here to make sure you stay safe. When I saw how he looked behind the mask and how he kind of retreated I thought, 'OK, I need to be more sensitive with him.' Then we’re not going to prepare them well enough," says Middleton.Plus, there are some families who have been directly affected by COVID-19. Schools will be focusing on the health, safety and mental health for those students and staff, too. Then, there's the wearing of masks by teachers and some kids who may or may not be wearing them."You might have to explain, 'Well, maybe some kids aren’t wearing masks because they have a health condition and they can’t wear a mask. Or maybe because of other things that are going on.' So just try to make sure you’re educating your kids about best practices and you’re talking to them about if someone isn’t maybe why that’s occurring to help them understand, to try and eliminate anxiety that might exist," says Dr. Conolly.The key is to remain calm. SAND IEGO (KGTV) -- A Scripps Ranch woman turned 100 and did not let a pandemic spoil her day. Nora Marsh lives with her daughter Donna. They had planned an extravagant party that was canceled due to coronavirus.Neighbors did a drive-by celebration and family and friends by the dozens wished her a Happy 100th in a recorded zoom message.Marsh was the daughter of Russian immigrants and grew up in Brooklyn. In 1936 she became one of the first women in the city to get a license. “People would point and say is that a girl driving!? It was so unusual,” said Marsh. Marsh made the circuits as a comedian and married her husband Leonard who was a WWII veteran. They raised 3 children and operated San Diego’s largest concession supply distribution company.Marsh says her secret is eating lots of candy and being happy every day. 834

SEATTLE, Washington — Calling all Harry Potter fans: Seattle, Washington’s coolest dad has created a wizarding world and we got a look inside this real-life version of Diagon Alley before it began its journey to a new home to help children.Johnathan Chambers said his kids always wanted him to create something special for Halloween."I posed a question to my girls, 'What can we do for Halloween or Christmas?' It was in the summer, to like go big. And one of them said, 'Diagon Alley'," he said.Chambers was fully committed to making this the best Diagon Alley fans had ever seen, but he had to leave his job to accomplish this project.  He decided to create the real-life Diagon Alley in his driveway. Chambers has been a creative director for more than 20 years and focusing on the details was his forte.At this Diagon Alley, muggles are allowed in. They walk into a magical filled with an assortment of shops and items on Hogwarts'  supply list. There is Olivander’s Wand Shop, Eyelops' Owl Emporium, Madam Malkin’s Robes for all Occasions and Flourish and Blotts where students buy their school books.Once word got out about the Diagon Alley Project, fans from around the world flocked to see this wizarding world in Washington.“They walk in the door and some of them have burst into tears. It’s been incredible," Chambers said.From overzealous screams, hysterical cries and a few marriage proposals, the Diagon Alley Project became a bigger success than Chambers ever imagined.As thousands of muggles roamed through their fantastical getaway, Chambers and his family realized they had an opportunity to make an even bigger difference. They decided to collect donations from visitors to raise money for cancer research. They raised ,000.We visited Diagon Alley as Chambers was beginning to disassemble it for its next phase.  He donated it to Camp Kory, a camp for children who have serious medical conditions, so the kids can now enjoy it.Through this magical creation, the Chambers family also started their own non-profit to continue their quest to bring joy to those who need it most.As for his next big adventure, Chamber’s plans on building the Death Star from Star Wars. 2238
