The woman says she received unwanted phone calls and text from Searcy after the incident.A month later on Aug. 14, Searcy pulled over a 29-year-old woman. Searcy reportedly told the woman she would receive a ticket, and be taken to jail unless she gave him her phone number. He also allegedly threatened to impound the woman's car. That woman also said she began receiving unwanted calls and texts from Searcy.Searcy faces a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison if he's found guilty. He will be arraigned on Aug. 17. Yale University will no longer formally call first-year students "freshmen" as the university is officially changing its terminology to be gender-neutral. So instead of being considered an "upperclassman," a student with multiple years of collegiate experience will be officially considered an "upper-level" student. According to Yale's student newspaper, administrators are not expecting students, faculty and staff to change how they refer to freshmen or upperclassmen. The change is one that is merely to be used in official titles and correspondence. “It’s really for public, formal correspondence and formal publications … we’re not trying to tell people what language to use in their everyday casual conversations,” Yale Colleg Dean Marvin Chun told the Yale News. “We’re not trying to be language police.”The new gender-neutral terminology was unveiled in the 2017-18 edition of the student handbook. Yale's student newspaper reported that administrators have been considering the change to gender-neutral terms for several years. Worldwide furniture retailer IKEA announced Wednesday plans to stop the sale of alkaline batteries at all of its stores in lieu of rechargeable batteries, which the companies says is better for the environment.The retailer estimates it sells 300 million non-rechargeable alkaline batteries per year. IKEA said that alkaline batteries will no longer be available at stores by October 2021.According to IKEA, reusing a NiMH battery 50 times, the impact of NiMH batteries is equal to or even less than the impact of alkaline batteries. IKEA says its LADDA battery can be recharged up to 500 times.IKEA added that if each rechargeable battery is reused 50 times, global waste could be reduced by as much as 5,000 tons on an annual basis.“Consumers who need to frequently use batteries can benefit by replacing alkaline with rechargeable batteries. There are substantial savings to be made over time – on the environment as well as their wallets.
