ASHGABAT, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao's three-nation tour to Central Asia has strategic significance for regional peace and stability, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Friday.     The president has engaged in extensive exchange of views with the leaders of Turkmenistan, South Korea, Tajikistan and Russia on bilateral ties and major international and regional issues of common concern, reaching broad consensus, said Yang, who is accompanying Hu during the tour.     TO DEEPEN COOPERATION, STRENGTHEN TIES     After China's establishment of diplomatic ties with South Korea, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan 16 years ago, its ties with the three countries have enjoyed rapid development, and the fields of bilateral cooperation have witnessed continuous expansion.     During President Hu's visit, China issued a joint communique with South Korea and released joint statements with Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Over 30 bilateral cooperative documents have been inked between China and the three nations.     In Seoul, Hu said China's ties with South Korea should aim at achieving common development of long term, and the two countries should share development opportunities, face challenges together, deepen comprehensive cooperation and enhance coordination and cooperation in dealing with major international and regional issues. BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China would deepen economic and trade cooperation and step up strategic and mutually beneficial relations with Japan, Chinese President Hu Jintao said on Sunday.     "China hopes the two sides would work together to enhance economic and trade cooperation, aiming at realizing mutual benefit and development," Hu told members of a delegation from the Japan-China Association on Economy and Trade (JCAET).     JCAET honorary president Fujio Mitarai and president Fujio Cho congratulated China on the success of the Olympics and Paralympic Games, and expressed willingness to push forward bilateral ties.     Hu expressed gratitude for Japanese aid after the Sichuan earthquake and for supporting the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics, praising the JCAET for "important contributions to the improvement and development of bilateral ties". In all, it is 2,270 square km and has a population of 1.4 million.     Lying between China's capital and the Bohai Gulf, the area has been decided by the State Council, or the Cabinet, to be one of the key economic powers in the country.     Taking an intercity high-speed railway shuttle from Beijing, the Premier asked the administrators of the shuttle line to provide a safe, fast and convenient service for people living in the two cities.     After arriving at the Binhai New Area, Premier Wen inspected some industry zones near the port. He was accompanied by Tianjin's Communist Party chief Zhang Gaoli.     Wen attended an opening ceremony for an assembly factory of the Airbus A320 model in the area.     "The Binhai New Area should take the advantages of various economic policies given by the central government and constantly improve its abilities of innovation and international competition," said the premier.     During his visit to the city, Wen also went to local households to convey his greetings of the National Day, which falls on Oct. 1.     When visiting a supermarket in the old community of Tianjin, Premier Wen asked the supermarket to ensure the quality of the products on sale.     He also went to a children's hospital where many parents sent their babies to have medical examinations in lieu of the toxic milk scandal.     The premier urged doctors in the hospital to carefully examine every child and to set parent's hearts to rest.
