CHULA VISTA, Calif (KGTV) -- Students in the south bay could get free lunches this June. The Sweetwater Union High School District announced Monday that its popular meal program is making a comeback. Called the “Seamless Summer Feeding Program,” free meals are being offered for most of June. According to the district, the free meals are available to anyone 18 and younger. The program runs from June 10 through June 28 Monday through Friday from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. The free lunches are being offered at Montgomery High School and Sweetwater Union High. According to the district, no registration is needed. “Just come and enjoy some great food,” a flyer from the district reads. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The Chula Vista Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that happened Saturday night on Telegraph Canyon Road. Surveillance at a nearby business captured the accident."Of course it was scary watching the video, right in front of our workplace here, it is scary," said Hector Ruiz, a Chula Vista real estate agent.At around 8:25 p.m., a man is seen crossing the road outside of a crosswalk. He makes it past the eastbound lanes but is then hit by a car traveling west.The driver remained on scene after the crash and has been investigating with officers. The driver did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol; no charges are expected to be filed against him. Ruiz says he is constantly worried about speeding along that stretch of Telegraph Canyon Road.Chula Vista Police say they welcome tips from the public regarding dangerous roads or places where drivers tend to speed. They can bring speed trailers to those areas to determine if there is a speeding problem. 1028

(KGTV) - A South Bay dentist is donating his time and services to a local Border Patrol agent with ALS.10News first showed you Jeff Miranda’s fight against his deadly disease earlier this month. Miranda was diagnosed three years ago. He is now in a wheelchair and uses eye gaze technology to communicate.Dr. Alex Liu of the Otay Lakes Dental Group saw the 10News story and decided to help. The family has been patients there for a few years.Dr. Liu will now be providing dental work to the entire family free of charge."We've seen it firsthand the effects that ALS has had not just on Jeffrey, but the family as well," said office manager Pablo Rojas. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A South Bay officer was arrested Wednesday after a reported domestic violence incident, police confirmed.Chula Vista Police officer Leopoldo Armando Chousal, 27, was arrested at a residence in the 6400 block of Potomac Street by San Diego Police. The incident occurred while Chousal was off-duty, police said.SDPD said Chousal was booked on one count of making "criminal threats" to harm his girlfriend. CVPD personnel were also at the scene when SDPD made the arrest.RELATED: Former Marine sentenced for punching San Diego Police Officer answering callChousal has been placed on administrative leave with a suspension of peace officer powers."CVPD takes these allegations seriously and was disappointed to learn of this incident.
