That truck belonged to my dad. He loved his truck. He drove it to work every day," said Mouw, choking back tears.Mouw says the truck is something his dad Marvin held close to his heart, even as he battled dementia.   Marvin Mouw passed away in 2016 in Iowa. His beloved truck was eventually driven to San Diego."I got to see my dad every day.  Pretty much think about my father every day I get into my truck," said Mouw.On Thursday, those precious moments disappeared before his eyes, as he watched his surveillance video. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A growing number of young San Diegans are still having symptoms several weeks or months after getting COVID-19. At UC San Diego, doctors are tracking and treating these so called long-haulers. Some health experts are now saying that the long-haul patient population may become a public health crisis of its own.When Jennica Harris in San Marcos got the coronavirus in March, she expected to bounce right back. Yet, weeks turned into months. “I'm 33 and healthy and young. [I work] out. [I] worked out while I was pregnant [with] lifting weights. High intensity workouts and here I am [with] this slew of doctors that I have to go see and try to figure out why my [heart rate] is so high. I can’t move from the couch and I can’t breathe two months after, three months, and four months after [getting COVID-19],” she told ABC10 News on Tuesday.Nine months after testing positive, the mother of two still battles severe shortness of breath. She's considered a long-hauler, one of the growing number of post-COVID-19 patients who suffer long after testing positive. “I was so angry for so long because I would see people outside partying when I could barely walk two feet to my window,” she added.“We already have several dozen patients and we're starting to get in outside referrals,” said UC San Diego’s Dr. Lucy Horton on Tuesday. She’s working with a team of specialists to treat local long-haulers. Many are in their 20s, 30s and 40s with no underlying conditions and many were never sick enough to be hospitalized when they first got the virus.Dr. Horton told ABC10 News that the cause of ongoing symptoms remains unclear. She said that it could be an auto-immune or overactive inflammatory response but there’s no one treatment available. She added that many of her patients have been ill for months. “What's really challenging as a physician in this situation is that we honestly don't know so when patients ask me, ‘Am I going to be sick for the rest of my life?’ I don't know if they’re going to be sick for the rest of their life,” she told ABC10 News.Dr. Horton and Harris encourage young people to continue taking virus safety measures seriously. “I just say that the decisions you make, make sure that you can live with those decisions,” added Harris. 2288

Duncan Hunter’s attorney to the United States Deputy Attorney General discussed possible evidence of extramarital infidelity and excessive drinking.On August 6, Hunter attorney Gregory A. Vega wrote to Rod Rosenstein at the Department of Justice requesting the postponement of this week's campaign fund misuse indictment, and addressed “an overly aggressive prosecution intent on criminalizing content that is civil in nature”.“While there may be evidence of infidelity, irresponsibility, or alcohol dependence, once properly understood, the underlying facts do not equate to criminal activity; these allegations are, however, intended to embarrass and humiliate the Congressman shortly before a crucial election, and also to alienate him from his wife, the only other person under investigation and his intended co-defendant,” wrote Vega.Prosecutors allege the Hunters used more than 0,000 in campaign funds to support a lavish lifestyle and reported the purchases as campaign expenses.The affidavit detailed money spent on hotel rooms for different individuals and various social outings, including one involving 30 shots of tequila. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man suspected of causing serious injuries that left a man in a coma-like state for nearly four years before his eventual death was arrested earlier this month, San Diego police announced Tuesday.San Diego police said 42-year-old Manuel Lopez was identified by investigators as the suspect in the death of Allen Stokes and was taken into custody on Sept. 3, on suspicion of murder.On March 12, 2016, Stokes was found unresponsive in an apartment building in the 7100 block of El Cajon Boulevard. Stokes was taken to the hospital for treatment, but his condition never improved.According to police, Stokes “remained in a conscious, yet unresponsive state, until his death” on Nov. 8, 2019.The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Stokes’ death “was the result of injuries received in March of 2016.”Stokes was 67 years old at the time he was injured. He was 72 years old when he died, police stated.After Stokes’ death was determined to be a homicide, investigators gathered evidence and spoke to those who knew the victim and eventually identified Lopez as a suspect in the case.Police said Lopez was booked into County Jail following his arrest.During Lopez's Tuesday afternoon arraignment, Deputy District Attorney Mary Naoom alleged a mallet was used in the killing.In entering his plea, Lopez told San Diego County Superior Court Judge Peter Deddeh, `"`I'm innocent."Lopez was ordered held on million bail and a bail review hearing was set next week in his case.Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact SDPD’s Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. 1643
