A panel of three federal judges in North Carolina ruled Monday the state's congressional map is an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander that favors Republicans, and said it may require districts to be redrawn before the November elections.Republicans hold 10 of the state's 13 seats in the House of Representatives, and a redrawn map could put more seats in play for Democrats -- potentially affecting control of the House.The judges acknowledged primary elections have already occurred, but said they were reluctant to let voting take place in districts that courts twice found had been unconstitutionally drawn.The same decision was reached by the court in January, but the Supreme Court declined in June to hear the case and it was sent back for reconsideration. The Supreme Court has never ruled a partisan gerrymander to be unconstitutional, and it passed up three separate opportunities to do so in the last term.The decision Monday could result in an election-year appeal to the Supreme Court. The court is currently evenly split on ideological lines and lacks a ninth justice to tip the scale. A student at Island Park High School in Florida was suspended after the principal and other staff members saw him imitating a gun with his hands and pretending to shoot in a classroom.This happened Friday. "You shouldn't be doing something like that at all," former Island Park High School student Devan Hinton said."It's just not something to be taken lightly," Sam Sherman, who lives in Fort Myers, told Scripps station WFTX in Fort Myers, Florida.The principal called the Lee County Sheriff's Office to file an incident report after he saw the student "imitating a rifle with his hands and pointing it to the classroom."Another staff member described the student making "a gesture with his arm simulating as if he was firing a weapon into the classroom."A third staff member said the student "stood in the classroom doorway and made a machine gun style pose with his arms pretending to shoot at the classroom.""That isn't OK. With everything going on, that's not something to joke about. That's lives in someone's hands," Hinton said.The principal said he didn't think the student was serious but will not tolerate this behavior in school, so he suspended him.It's an action Sherman said he agrees with for the safety of the students."It's better to be preventative than wait and let it go on, and God forbid something else occur," he said.The principal of Island Park High School, Arthur Nauss, sent WFTX this statement:"I took the disciplinary action of sending the student home after I observed him pointing his finger at another student imitating that he was shooting a gun. The student pointing the finger and the student he was pointing at know each one another and were laughing at one another. There was no threat being issued but I believe it necessary to make it clear to the student, and all our students, that this is unacceptable behavior considering the recent events here in Florida. I called the student’s mother to inform her of what had occurred and let her know I would be working with the student in the future to ensure this behavior does not reoccur.When the student returns to school he will be informed that any future actions such as this one will result in a suspension or expulsion from school. "We'll be stationed by polling locations around the country, targeting those with historically long lines, predicted massive turnouts, or limited facilities, sharing meals with anyone – no questions asked. A Texas jail guard suffered a heart attack two years ago, and if not for a group of inmates, he could have lost his life, WFAA-TV reported.Gary Grimm of Weatherford, Texas is thankful for those inmates who gave the now 52-year-old retired jail guard a second-chance at life."Instead of overtaking me and taking my gun, and killing me or taking a hostage and escaping, they looked at me as a human being," Grimm told WFAA. The inmates reportedly had to knock down a locked gate to get to Grimm after they realized he was having a medical emergency. The group of eight inmates were able to get the attention of others in the jail, who were able to help Grimm seek medical attention. Grimm never got the opportunity to personally thank the inmates as they were transferred to other institutions."I get emotional. If they wished harm for me, all they had to do was sit there and do nothing," Grimm told WFAA. Grimm said he treated inmates the way he would want to be treated. Perhaps, that is why they came to his aid when he needed it."I don't care if they're a drug user, hot check writer, or child molester. They're still a human being. I don't have to like what they did, but it's not my position to be the judge and jury," Grimm told the station. 1275

A video of a proposal from a Michigan couple is going viral for all of the wrong reasons after the woman's son dropped his pants and peed mid proposal.According to WNEM, Kevin Przytula brought his girlfriend, Allyssa, to Bay City over the weekend to propose.When he dropped to one knee, Allyssa's son dropped his pants and couldn't hold it any longer, peeing right in the shot.The couple didn't even notice until the person behind the camera giggled and got their attention."Oh my God he's peeing," Przytula said.As of Monday afternoon, the video has been viewed more than 3,000 times. 603
