SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to deepen economic and trade cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties with the United States in a "constructive manner", a senior official from China's Ministry of Commerce said here Thursday.At a press conference held Thursday evening, Yu Jianhua, director general of the International Trade and Economic Affairs Department of Ministry of Commerce, said China does not want to get into confrontation with the United States in trade and exchange rate issues, though its second round of quantitative easing will have great impact on China and other emerging economies."On the contrary, we are willing to deepen economic and trade cooperation with the United States in a constructive manner," said Yu, who is also a member of the Chinese delegation to the G20 Seoul Summit which opened Thursday evening.He said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao also proposed to deepen the bilateral economic and trade cooperation during a meeting with U.S. President Barak Obama in New York last September."Therefore, much common ground can be found in the China-U.S. cooperation. BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) on Friday moved to overhaul the supervision over country's dairy products in a bid to ensure food safety before the major Chinese festivals.Local food and drug administrations have been ordered to increase supervision over the trade and consumption of diary products and ensure that dairy products are not mixed with non-edible substances or food additives,read a notice posted on the SFDA's website.The SFDA asked restaurants to keep dairy product suppliers' contact information as well as valid documents which could help authorities identify the quality, specifications and expiration date of dairy products.Year-end is always a peak season for the Chinese to dine out, either with families or colleagues. The Spring Festival, or the Chinese lunar new year and the most important festival for the Chinese, falls on February 3.China's dairy industry was marred by a scandal in 2008, in which at least six infants died and almost 300,000 became ill across the country after consuming dairy products tainted with the industrial chemical melamine.To restore consumer confidence, the Chinese government launched a nationwide safety overhaul of dairy products in November 2008.

BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Civil Affairs on Tuesday sent more relief materials to southern regions that had been hit by icy weather, the ministry said in a statement.The batch of 35,000 quilts and 20,000 cotton coats were on their way to the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Chongqing Municipality and the provinces of Sichuan and Jiangxi.Since New Year's Day, freezing weather along with sleet has affected several southern regions, disrupting traffic and lives.Weather forecast said Tuesday freezing weather and sleet will continue in south China over the next three days.
