SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Driving on roads in San Diego during the holiday season can be a headache, as residents and tourists alike deal with increased traffic caused by extra congestion. This year, during Thanksgiving week, the roads have been a little bit safer, according to statistics released by the California Highway Patrol. San Diego County DUI arrests and auto fatalities were both down from last year, for the time period between Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and Friday at 6:00 a.m. Going into the weekend there have been a total of 21 DUI arrests recorded in San Diego, a decrease from 27 arrests from 2017. RELATED: Check 10News?traffic updatesThe results are also reflected across the state, where the 294 DUI arrests are down from 386 a year ago. There have been no fatal car accidents in San Diego, compared to one at this time last year. Across the state there were 17 car accidents resulting in death, compared to 19 in 2017. The CHP reports that of the 13 fatalities that occurred in their jurisdiction, five were not wearing seat belts.  1142

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Divorce can be financially crippling and takes an emotional toll on all involved.The creators of Vesta: Redefining Divorce know that firsthand. "There are things that happened, you know, I lost lots of family members during that time because they really don't understand the dynamic of divorce," said Bob Vona, a co-founder of Vesta. He created Vesta alongside Deanna Coyle to help others going through what can be a grueling process."What Vesta has tried to do is really educate people as to what question's you need to ask your attorneys, what questions you need to ask your financial advisors," said Vona. The program began in Boston and is now expanding to Southern California.Through free boot camps, Vona says people will have access to highly vetted professionals, including attorneys, financial advisors, divorce coaches, realtors, mortgage consultants, and college planning specialists. "We see time and time again, people make one mistake after another after they sign on the dotted line, and they've hurt themselves financially for the rest of their lives," said Vona. "No matter how much money you make, it's automatically causing an increase of expenses that's a burden," said Vona. Vesta founders say the boot camps are beneficial to people going through divorce, contemplating divorce, or recovering from divorce. And in an often isolated journey, the boot camps provide a support system, letting people know they aren't in this process alone. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Due to struggling ridership, the City of San Diego has been busy creating a plan to revamp its bikesharing program.On Wednesday staff will provide an update on improvements made and future plans, in response to a grand jury report in 2016.The program, DecoBike, is privately owned but works in partnership with the city.Critics of the program say it has not met the city's needs due to where stations were built.Last year a county grand jury report titled "San Diego's Bikesharing Program Needs Help," outlined ways the city and DecoBike could improve to better serve the community.One recommendation was to put more stations in beach communities, even though local business owners and residents protested them being there.Since then, the city has done the opposite, removing 14 stations from beach communities.City spokesperson Katie Keach says the city and DecoBike are concentrating on increasing the number of stations in the urban core.By doing this, they believe it will provide for a comprehensive system to increase alternative transportation options. They say it will also help the city meet its Climate Action Plan goals.Keach says they hope to have additional stations in North Park, Uptown, Golden Hill and downtown this winter.The city is conducting presentations to community planning groups this fall, seeking public input.Bicycle and climate activists want the program to succeed, saying it's critical to the city's Climate Action Plan.  1486

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Harbor Police were searching for a vandal Monday who set off a panic at an upscale steak house along the Embarcadero.Customers took cover under tables and ran for the exits at Ruth’s Chris Steak House Sunday night when projectiles smashed through at least two of the restaurant’s bay-facing windows. Someone inside the restaurant shouted “gun,” prompting fears of an active shooter, customers told 10News.“It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever been through,” said Joey Giacalone, a long-time patron and former co-owner of the Venetian Restaurant in Point Loma. “I mean everyone is diving under tables. It was pandemonium.”Two bartenders and a manager jumped into action, Giacalone and his wife said, directing guests to take cover and then evacuate the restaurant.RELATED: Hillcrest restaurant reopens after one week after shooting“There were cooks telling us to come to the back door. They sent us through the kitchen. Because again, no one knew what information was really out there. We thought there was an active shooter,” he said. “I kept envisioning a gunman coming around the corner to shoot us all,” Juli Giacalone added.One of the servers working that night survived the Route 91mass shooting in Las Vegas. Ricca Salazar “reacted quickly and ran out the back door with a couple other staff members,” her husband wrote on Facebook. “She fell and they helped her up,” he said. “Scary night, scary scenario.”Harbor Police determined someone had thrown rocks through the windows. Investigators believe the unidentified vandal may have been a disgruntled customer who left the restaurant without paying earlier that evening, said Lt. Victor Banuelos.Joey Giacalone said the man had been acting strangely.“One guest said he saw him going into the women’s bathroom and said, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ And then he left,” he said.The Giacalones commended staff members for going “above-and-beyond” during the incident.“Everyone is panicking and these guys are saying, ‘Forget about me.
