SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police arrested two people following a pursuit through San Carlos Friday night.Officers say they responded to reports of gunshots near the San Carlos Recreation Center around 9:53 p.m. They said they tried to pull over a suspicious vehicle, but it took off. A five-minute pursuit took place before the suspect’s car crashed near the Jackson and Golfcrest Drives.The suspects rushed out of the vehicle, but one was caught after surrendering at a nearby taco shop. The other one ran into a nearby housing complex. That suspect surrendered after about a three-minute standoff.Police say they found guns in the car. The suspect's names have not yet been released. 713
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - People looking to sell their home may be leaving thousands of dollars on the table by not renovating before listing, mainly because money is tight during the Coronavirus pandemic.Now, a San Diego-based company wants to help.Renovating Lives will pay for renovations up front to increase the value of a home before it sells."A lot of the people that we help are in horrible financial situations," says CEO Greg May. "They're they're they're stuck with being taken advantage of by vulture investors."May's company works with the homeowners on a renovation plan and then covers the costs.Homeowners pay the company back when the house sells, along with financing and administrative fees."There are 10s of thousands of properties out there that need work, that are deferred maintenance or just dated," says May. "If people had to sell them as is, they would be leaving 10s of thousands of dollars on the table."May says his company can typically increase a home's value by an average of 5,000.That's what happened with owner Bill Stutzer. After his wife passed away, he wanted to sell his 5-bedroom home as is, listing for around 0,000.But a smaller house across the street sold for nearly 5,000 after some renovations. Stutzer didn't know what to do with his home until he called Renovating Lives."I didn't want to do anything," he says. "I was just going to leave my house, as is, and try and sell it, and soon realized that wasn't going to I wasn't going to cut it... It turns out that if you put a little bit upfront and and get some things done it, it magnifies the bottom line."May's company helped Stutzer redo his home from the inside out, with new flooring, paint, doors, lighting and more. It would up selling for 0,000."My reaction was, wow, this is a modern house. This house could be in a magazine. I absolutely could not believe it. I couldn't believe my eyes," he says.May says Stutzer's home is a best case scenario, but he wants to give hope to others in a similar situation."I want more people to understand there is hope out there, you don't have to sell your house for pennies on the dollar to a profiteer," says May. "I will help you fix up that house and put the cash in your pocket."May says this is especially important now, as people may decide to save money during the pandemic by not renovating before selling. He says its best to take advantage of the housing market while it's still high."Don't wait until it's too late, until they burn through their nest egg, and they're in foreclosure and their credit's being hurt," he says. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New advertisements against Measure B riled up supporters, who spoke out against the massive development Friday.The commercial states, "Measure B the Newland Sierra project, is a luxury development," something supporters vehemently deny."What I think is disingenuous is making people feel fearful of what can happen in this development," supporter Melinda Vasquez said.Friday, dozens gathered in Kearny Mesa to advocate for Newland Sierra's development project. The group included teachers and firefighters who want more affordable home options in San Diego.RELATED: El Cajon takes risks to help lower cost of housing"Home ownership has become less of a reality for families like mine," Cindy Lopez said. She is a first generation American (her parents moved from Mexico) and a teacher. She teaches first- and second-graders, and comes home to a 12-month-old."Even though she's a toddler we're going to be expanding soon in the future and we're going to need that space, that affordable space to grow our family," Lopez said she is always budget conscious for her family.The county's existing general plan calls for 99 homes and up to 2,000,000 square feet of commercial property with open space. They said the development will have a spread of apartments for seniors and low low income, affordable town-homes, and individual homes. The highest bracket in the chart showed 1,570 or more. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police have arrested a man they say tried to sexually assault a woman in Little Italy before stealing her car. Police say the man, identified as Christopher Merron, 28, was arrested Monday on several charges, including assault with intent to commit a sex crime, brandishing a deadly weapon and auto theft. According to police, the incident happened on the 1700 block of India Street at 4:33 a.m. Sunday.RELATED: Man tries to sexually assault woman before stealing her car in Little Italy, police sayPolice say the man walked into Cafe Italia while the victim was cleaning. The man then pushed the woman into a back room where he tried to sexually assault her while wielding a Bowie knife.The woman was able to fight the suspect off before he grabbed her car keys and drove out of the area in her vehicle. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Next time you head off to your gate to catch your flight, make sure you look over your bin upon leaving the TSA checkpoint.Transportation Security Administration officials say the agency collected 6,030.44 in unclaimed money that passengers left behind at security checkpoints last fiscal year, between Oct. 1, 2018, and Sept. 30, 2019. Of that, ,899.09 was in foreign currency.In San Diego, airport officials say ,809.39 was left behind by travelers.TSA says the money consisted of loose change and paper currency passengers removed from and left in bins during the security screening process.While San Diego saw nearly ,000 left behind, it was nowhere close to the top five U.S. airports:John F.
