SIRTE, Libya, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese special envoy to the Middle East Wu Sike will convey on Saturday a message from President Hu Jintao to the Arab leaders during their 22nd summit billed "Summit of supporting Jerusalem' Steadfastness," kicked off today in the Libyan city of Sirte.In an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency, Wu said he came to the Arab summit, carrying a message from Chinese President Hu Jintao to the Arab leaders, extending congratulations on the occasion of the summit.China is paying much attention to the promotion of relations with the Arab world, Wu said, adding that China appreciates and supports the Arab efforts aiming to enhance cooperation and solidarity between the two sides.Speaking of the Chinese position towards the Israeli practices in the occupied lands, Wu said that China supports the Arab endeavors aiming to reach peace.The Chinese stance is cut-clear in this regard, Wu stressed, noting that China supports reaching a solution to the issue, based on international legitimacy resolutions, which state that Israel has no rights to impose any changes on lands occupied in 1967.Wu also pointed to China's long-standing position calling for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state and for peaceful coexistence between Israel and the Palestinians, saying this is China's permanent position which it will adhere to in all international forums.About China's vision towards the Israeli settlement activity, Wu said China categorically rejects the settlement activities in the occupied lands.During contacts with Israel, China showed commitment to this stance, to the importance of stopping the settlement activities, and to creating favorable circumstances for talks, Wu noted, saying that his attendance of the Arab summit comes within China's support for the Arabs, and to coordinate stances between the two sides.As for the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum, due to be held this May in China, Wu said that China and the Arab world are bound with favorable political ties and expanded, intensive economic cooperation.In the light of the global economic crisis, the strengthening of Chinese-Arab cooperation is of high importance.Over the past six years following the establishment of China- Arab Cooperation Forum, bilateral relations have seen tangible development, Wu said.The fourth session of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, slated for May 13-14, will see an assessment of the Arab-Chinese cooperation over the past six years and means to push this cooperation forward in the future.China is represented by a delegation at the 22nd Arab summit, entitled "Summit of Supporting Jerusalem's Steadfastness," as an observer.

BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has called on authorities to ensure earthquake survivors in Qinghai Province receive adequate food and financial assistance to maintain their livelihoods. Rebuilding projects should be finished within three years, with a priority on residential buildings and public facilities such as schools and hospitals, Wen said.Wen made the call in a speech, which was published Sunday by the State Council General Office, at a meeting to discuss relief work on May 1 during his second visit to the quake zone in Yushu prefecture.Wen said supplies of food, cooking oil, vegetables, fuel and relief allowances should be provided to ensure living standards, and schools should resume as soon as possible in tents or temporary buildings.Debris should be cleared quickly, and the disposal of garbage, human waste and livestock carcases must be properly carried out, Wen said.Adequate disinfectant chemicals and equipment should be prepared, and authorities should be alert for outbreaks of disease, Wen said.Damaged roads and bridges should be repaired and airport operations should be guaranteed to maintain efficient transport. Water and power supplies should also be restored rapidly, Wen said.Agricultural production should be restored, and the government must help farmers buy seed and fertilizers. Markets should be rebuilt and goods supplies and prices stabilized, Wen said.Psychological assistance should be provided to people suffering from trauma problems.Reconstruction planning should be scientifically evaluated on the basis of the surveys of the area's geological, hydrological and ecological conditions, and reconstruction sites should avoid earthquake fault lines, Wen said.He urged authorities to take into consideration the environment, economic and social development, poverty alleviation and livelihood promotion in the reconstruction.The work should also be carried out with concern for the prefecture's distinctive ethnic characteristics and geological conditions.Wen stressed in particular the protection of Tibetan culture during reconstruction work, and he promised the government would support the repair of damaged temples and protect key cultural relics.Because Yushu's ecosystem is fragile and sensitive to human activities, rebuilding work must be environmentally friendly, with a high recycling rate of building materials, he said.The reconstruction fund would be provided by the central government and supported by public donations. HAIKOU, April 25 (Xinhua) -- China's fishery administration said on Sunday it had started regular patrols of the South China Sea, sending two vessels to take over from two others currently escorting Chinese fishing boats in the area."China Yuzheng 301 and 302 take over from China Yuzheng 311 and 202, which have been patrolling the sea area of Nansha Islands since April 1," said Wu Zhuang, director of Administration of Fishery and Fishing Harbor Supervision for South China Sea under the Ministry of Agriculture.He said the patrol ships were sent to escort Chinese fishing boats in the South China Sea and reinforce China's fishing rights of the waters around Nansha Islands.The two ships set sail from Sanya, a coastal city in China's Southernmost Island Province of Hainan, on Sunday.China's patrol vessels escort the country's fishing boats and help treat fishermen who fall ill, Wu said.
