LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A FedEx plane had to make an emergency landing at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).The airport says FedEx Flight 1026, a Boeing 7677-300, landed safely after declaring an emergency Wednesday morning.The Los Angeles Fire Department transported one of the pilots to the hospital with a non-life threatening leg injury that was sustained during the evacuation of the plane.LAX says the aircraft wasn’t carrying any passengers.KNBC and KTTV report that the plane was arriving in California from Newark, New Jersey, and landed at about 5 p.m.According to KTTV, the pilots of the plane reported a problem with the landing gear before the aircraft landed and slid on its underside. 715

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - An autopsy could be conducted as early as Monday on award-winning former USC offensive lineman Max Tuerk, who died while hiking with his parents on a favorite trail in the Cleveland National Forest. He was 26.Tuerk was pronounced dead at 3:14 p.m. Saturday at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, according to Supervising Deputy Orange County Coroner Erica Arellano. There was no immediate indication of an apparent cause of death, Arellano said.Tuerk was the first-team All-Pac-12 center as a junior in 2014. He started the first five games at center in 2015, then tore ligaments in his right knee and underwent season-ending surgery. Despite the injury, he won USC's Most Inspirational Player Award.Tuerk was a captain both of his final two seasons with the Trojans.Tuerk started USC's final five regular-season games at left tackle as a freshman in 2012 and at left guard in its 21-7 loss to Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl.Tuerk started 13 games at left guard and one at right tackle in 2013, receiving All-Pac-12 honorable mention."Heartbroken by the loss of Max Tuerk," Trojans coach Clay Helton tweeted. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Three Los Angeles police officers have been charged with falsifying records reporting that people they stopped were gang members or associates. Prosecutors say the members of the Police Department's Metropolitan Division were charged with conspiracy in a 59-count complaint with obstructing justice and multiple counts of filing a false police report and preparing false evidence. In a news release, the LA County DA's office said Braxton Shaw, Michael Coblentz, and Nicholas Martinez are the officers being charged.Prosecutors said in the statement that the officers are accused of falsifying field interview cards they use to conduct interviews while out on duty.The cards, prosecutors say, contained false information and misidentified dozens of people as a gang member.The officers' union said Friday it expects the department to ensure the officers are accorded their due process rights and that any proven mischaracterizations are corrected.The Police Department says 21 additional officers are under investigation.
