WASHINGTON, D.C. – Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is calling on the Republican leadership to work with Democrats to raise the dollar amount of the direct payments in the relief package after President Donald Trump threatened to sink the bill without the increase Tuesday night.Pelosi said in a letter to House Democrats on Wednesday that she will go to the floor and ask for unanimous consent to bring a standalone bill that would increase the individual payments from 0 to ,000, which Trump requested in a video released on Twitter.To do so requires the agreement of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and the same would also need to be done in the Senate.“If the president truly wants to join us in ,000 payments, he should call upon Leader McCarthy to agree to our unanimous consent request,” wrote Pelosi.The House is scheduled to go in for a pro forma session Thursday. WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Justice Department filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google on Tuesday, alleging the tech company has been abusing its dominance in online search to stifle competition and harm consumers.In the lawsuit filed by the DOJ and attorneys general from 11 conservative-leaning states, officials say Google has accounted for nearly 90% of all search queries in the U.S. and has used anticompetitive tactics to extend its monopolies in search and search advertising.Specifically, the complaint claims Google unlawfully maintained monopolies by doing the following:Entering into exclusivity agreements that forbid preinstallation of any competing search serviceEntering into tying and other arrangements that force preinstallation of its search applications in prime locations on mobile devices and make them undeletable, regardless of consumer preferenceEntering into long-term agreements with Apple that require Google to be the default – and de facto exclusive – general search engine on Apple’s popular Safari browser and other Apple search toolsGenerally using monopoly profits to buy preferential treatment for its search engine on devices, web browsers, and other search access points, creating a continuous and self-reinforcing cycle of monopolizationGoogle has long denied the claims of unfair competition. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Firefighters recently pulled six dogs from a burning building in Washington D.C.Crews responded to the scene Tuesday after receiving a report of a row house on fire.Four residents made it out but told firefighters six dogs were still inside. (KGTV) -- President Donald Trump said Saturday that he plans to pull out of an arms control agreement between the US and Russia, according to the Associated Press.The pact, signed in 1987 by the US and the former Soviet Union, prohibits both countries from owning, producing or test-flying ground-launched cruise missiles with a range of 300 to 3,400 miles."Russia has violated the agreement. They have been violating it for many years," Trump said at the Nevada rally. “And we're not going to let them violate a nuclear agreement and go out and do weapons and we're not allowed to."The agreement keeps the US from developing new weapons, with the country saying it will begin developing the weapons unless Russia and China agree not to possess or develop the missiles. Russia has condemned the US for pulling out of the agreement, calling it a “very dangerous step,” while Congress remains mixed.A split also emerged internationally in Europe with Britain saying it stands “absolutely resolute” with the US and Germany calling the move “regrettable.” 1090
