BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo police have charged a woman with felony reckless endangerment and reckless driving for allegedly hitting a Niagara Square protester with a truck Wednesday night.The driver has been identified as 25-year-old Joanna Gollnau.Slow Roll Buffalo says 59-year-old Karen Huffman, who is a member of their board, was the person hit by Gollnau during those protests in downtown Buffalo.Protesters were rallying against racial injustice and eyewitnesses tell WKBW that the driver of the truck was shouting at protesters as she drove into the crowd.WKBW was at the scene at the time. BONSALL (CNS) - A North County high school student was arrested on suspicion of making a specific threat to shoot up a planned school event, authorities reported Friday.Bonsall High School officials called the San Diego County Sheriff's Department around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday to report that a student possibly had a gun at the campus on West Lilac Road, sheriff's Lt. Ricardo Lopez said.Deputies responded and learned that the student "had made specific threats to commit a shooting at a planned school event in the near future," Lopez said. BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) — A proposal from lawmakers in New England and California to give free access to national parks to wounded veterans is poised to become law. The Wounded Veterans Recreation Act has passed the U.S. House of Representatives after previously passing the U.S. Senate. Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins, New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Democratic California Rep. Raul Ruiz proposed the law. The lawmakers say the bill is designed to change the 2004 Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act to make veterans with a service-connected disability eligible for a free lifetime pass to U.S. national parks. 645

BARRIO LOGAN, Calif. (KGTV) -- Business owners in Barrio Logan are unhappy with the San Diego City Council's decision to fund the three temporary homeless tents opening on December 1st. The council voted 8-1 on Tuesday in favor of the funding. Council-member Alvarez was the only one to vote no, saying the city missed a chance to really solve the problem. The owners of Ryan Bros Coffee say their shop already deals with homeless on a regular basis. Their shop is less than half a mile away from one of the tents schedule to go up on 16th and Newton. Co-owner Tom Ryan says they’ve had people overdose in the bathroom or collapse, sick on the ground inside the store. Ryan’s staff is getting ready to see the number of homeless go up during the winter. The other two tents are in the Midway District and the East Village.  856
