SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Maritime Museum of San Diego will reopen to the public on Aug. 22, with new precautions for visitors and limited capacity.Museum officials say they have placed 6-foot markers on the upper decks of ships to remind visitors to practice social distancing while visiting. Capacity for the museum has also been cut to 25%, but staff will monitor levels every 15 minutes.Guests and staff will undergo temperature checks and wellness screenings before entering the museum, and facial coverings will be required. The museum is also condensing its hours to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Due to the high touch potential, the museum's gift shop is temporarily closed. Museum staff will be cleaning and sanitizing surfaces throughout the day.The museum's tours will be self-guided, but volunteers will be available through the museum to help guests."We wanted to offer a special treat for visitors and residents of San Diego during the stress of the global pandemic," Raymond Ashley, president and CEO of the Maritime Museum of San Diego, said. "So, a stroll aboard the decks of these historic ships and refreshing, educational boat ride in San Diego Bay could be the perfect break.The museum will offer outdoor activities, such as self-guided tours, of the museum's fleet of historic vessels. If you're out being active, more organic natural moments will arrive," Tingler told reporters, saying that he doesn't plan to sit in his office often.The Padres introduced the former Texas Rangers coach to the media at Petco Park Thursday. In front of a backdrop of brown and gold, general manager A.J. Preller spoke on Tingler's experience and confidence in him managing the team starting in 2020. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- In just hours, Rady Children's Hospital is expected to get their first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. It is unclear how many doses the hospital will receive, but once they arrive they will be stored in ultra low temperature freezers, until they are given to hospital staff. FedEx is in charge of making the historic delivery.The hospital's chief operating officer, Dr. Nicholas Holmes, says most of the hospital's staff wants to get the vaccine. It will not be mandated, since it's only approved for emergency use. The first to get the vaccine at the hospital will be front-line healthcare workers in the 1-A category. The category includes physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, and other staff who have high chances of exposure to the virus. Dr. Holmes says a team at the hospital spent the last four days planning the logistics for distribution. Staff working in the same departments will get the vaccines on a rolling basis, just in case they experience side effects and to prevent an entire department from having to miss work at once.
