SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 17-year-old from San Diego driving a vehicle police suspected to be stolen was shot by a detective during a traffic stop, Hemet police said Saturday.Detectives with the department's Crime Suppression Unit conducted the traffic stop at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of North San Jacinto Street, Lt. Jeff Davis said."Detectives transitioned to a high risk stop after a records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen from the San Diego area. An officer involved shooting occurred during the stop," Davis said.The San Diego teen was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and later released to his guardian after receiving treatment, according to the news release.It was unclear what led to the shooting, and a call to Davis by a reporter Saturday morning was not returned.No officers were injured in the encounter, and an investigation was ongoing. 910

The senators began drafting the legislation after a November 2018 Reuters report detailing substandard and even dangerous living conditions at Lincoln Military Housing's privately owned complexes, including mold spores, water leaks and infestations of rodents and insects.The report also detailed multiple instances of Lincoln's slow and lack of a response to tenants complaining about living conditions. Lincoln Military Housing runs most of Camp Pendleton's 7,900 housing units.``Service members shouldn't have to worry about the health and safety of their families while protecting our country,'' Feinstein said.``Unfortunately, many living in private military housing are dealing with hazardous conditions with little or no recourse."In addition to Lincoln Military Housing's large presence in the military housing market, military members and their families living on a military base like Camp Pendleton lack the same tenant rights as civilians living on private land. Reuters found that tenant rights are generally set by contracts between the military and private housing companies or landlords.Because of this, military base residents can't press local governments to enforce health codes or withhold rent payments until repairs are made.The senators' bill would enable base commanders to withhold housing payments until officials with a housing company inspect a safety or health hazard. SALEM, Ore. – Oregon voted to legalize psilocybin mushrooms for therapeutic use on Tuesday.A psilocybin is a hallucinogenic chemical obtained from certain types of fresh and dried mushrooms, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).With 81% of votes reported Wednesday morning, 55.8% of the electorate had voted to approve Oregon Measure 109, The Associated Press reports.While some states have decriminalized the so-called “magic mushrooms” or "shrooms," this measure makes Oregon the first state to legalize them.Under the measure, licensed service providers are permitted to administer psilocybin-producing mushroom and fungi products to those 21 years or older. The DEA says it’s often ingested orally, brewed as a tea or added to foods.The measure authorizes the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to create a program to help these licensed providers to administer the products.The measure was backed by war veterans with PTSD, those with terminal illnesses and others who suffer from anxiety or depression, who claim psilocybin helps.Some opponents say science does not yet indicate that psilocybin is a safe medical treatment. 1150
