SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Surveillance video shows burglars ransacking a Pacific Beach brewpub hit hard by the pandemic.Just past 6 p.m Thursday, while food and craft beer were being served up at the second-story Amplified Ale Works restaurant, a masked man was recorded while inside the first-floor office and shuttered music venue.A mangled door revealed the intruder's entry point."Looks like he used a crowbar on the back door," said owner Alex Pierson.Inside, he's seen rummaging through drawers, grabbing headphones and some other items before leaving. Pierson says the burglar returned hours later, and he wasn't alone."When they came back at 10:30 p.m., they ransacked everything," said Pierson.For some 40 minutes, three men are seen helping themselves to whatever they wanted, filling up box after box.In one clip, one of the thieves is seen sorting through paperwork. Several blank checks were found missing."It's that feeling of violation. It hurt. Also took several employees' bikes, several guitars, amps, eight cases of beer, merchandise and some other electronics," said Pierson.For Pierson, the burglary is beyond disheartening."We're doing everything we can to keep our employees employed ... a 'being kicked while you're down' feeling," said Pierson.Pierson says the impact of the pandemic has cut revenues for the eight-year-old brewpub in half. The loss from the theft is more than ,000."In the end, it's not going to break us, but we're at such a point of breaking, as it is," said Pierson.Pierson fears others have also felt the hurt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The City of San Diego could make the unorthodox move of refusing to reveal a directory of its 11,000-plus employees.A new memo from City Attorney Mara Elliott's office says officials fear doing so could increase the risk of cyber attack. "You have indicated that releasing all City employee email addresses at once could create a potential threat to the City's cybersecurity because it would make it substantially easier for bad actors to launch phishing attacks against the City, which could interrupt critical City operations," says the Sept. 20 memo. The Union-Tribune recently made a California Public Records Act request for names, work email addresses and phone numbers of all city employees, which is disclosable under the act. Cyber security experts say public agencies have been facing a barrage of hacking attempts because they control critical civic operations. Last year, hackers shut down some operations at the Port of San Diego, and the city of Atlanta has spent millions to recover a system after a ,000 ransomware attack. Ted Harrington, an executive partner at Independent Security Evaluators, said hackers often try to get victims to open attachments in emails, known as phishing. "It's an attack method where when the victim either clicks a link or downloads an attachment, that automatically installs some sort of malware or directors that particular victim to a malicious website, and then all kinds of bad things can happen from there," he said. The City Attorney's memo existing case law suggests there are circumstances where not disclosing the list of workers outweighs the public interest in disclosing them, but leaves it up to the city on a final determination. Jeff Light, the editor and publisher of the Union-Tribune, said in a statement that he understands the cyber security concern, but that it shouldn't keep the information from being disclosed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The census count impacts everyone living in the United States, from determining how much federal money cities and counties receive to how many representatives states get in Congress. Everyone living in the country regardless of age, race, and citizenship status is asked to fill the survey out. But San Diego and Imperial Counties are notoriously difficult to get an accurate count, the second most challenging region in the entire country. For the 2020 census, over 100 community organizations and civic groups in San Diego are working together to reach "hard to count" populations.“Some of the ethnic groups are the ones that are hard to count, such as the African Americans, the Hispanic, Asian Pacific Islanders, as well as immigrant and refugee populations are really hard to count," said Nancy Sasaki, President & CEO of United Way of San Diego County.United Way of San Diego County is leading the Count Me 2020 campaign. Sasaki went on to say veterans, homeless people, and children are often left out too. The county was awarded two major contracts, totaling .22 million, to coordinate Census 2020 outreach for hard to count populations in San Diego and Imperial Counties.The Supreme Court will rule whether the controversial citizenship question will be added to the census, a decision is expected by June. 1349

Ed Kitrosser and his wife just got a bill for 3, more than double the usual for their home in Pacific Beach."We're on automatic sprinklers.
