(KGTV) – The Legoland Hotel in Carlsbad is set to reopen before the theme park.Legoland California officials said the hotel, located on the same grounds as the Legoland theme park, will reopen to the public on Friday, July 17.With the reopening of the hotel, officials confirmed there will be numerous health and safety modifications in place such as social distancing practices and enhanced cleaning regimes.Legoland Hotel will operate in a reduced capacity, take cashless payments, and have a face coverings requirement for all guests three years of age and over. Hotel staff will also be required to don face coverings.Officials said those interested in staying at the hotel should book reservations online.The announcement of the hotel's reopening comes a week after officials said the Legoland theme park, which was shut down in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, would not reopen prior to Aug. 1.A reopening date for the theme park has not yet been determined. 992

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (KGTV) — A pair of brothers was arrested this week after police say they tried to carjack a man working on his vehicle on Interstate 5, assaulted him, and fled onto Camp Pendleton property.The brothers were traveling on southbound I-5 on Tuesday at about 10 a.m. when their Ford Mustang broke down just north of Las Pulgas Road. The pair walked to Vista Point and asked a truck driver for a ride to Long Beach, but the driver said no, California Highway Patrol said.The brothers then approached a 58-year-old man from San Diego who was working on his broken-down vehicle. The man was leaning over the engine of his vehicle with the hood up when one of the brothers placed the man in a headlock while the other brother assaulted the man in the face and body, CHP said.The truck driver who denied the brothers a lift saw the attack and came to the victim's aid. The brothers fled the area west, and climbed over a fence onto Camp Pendleton, said CHP.Camp Pendelton Police were nearby and quickly found and detained the two. CHP officers responded to the scene as well. The victim received moderate to major injuries during the assault and is expected to recover.Gonzalo Lopez, 24, and Eusebio Lopez, 19, both from Long Beach, were arrested and charged with assault and battery, and attempted carjacking. Gonzalo was also charged with driving under the influence while Eusebio was charged with being drunk in public. 1444

Instead, the building could be torn down.In July, Wetzler subleased the 100-square-foot building in a downtown Carlsbad parking lot and opened Elm Street Board Shop. He had a local artist spruce up the outside with images of Carlsbad at sunset and a Freddie Krueger theme."All the kids have been skating here for two generations and anybody who lives down here always thought this should be a skate shop," he said. Wetzler's shop, and a vape shop next door, closed in October to make way for redevelopment. A Carlsbad family is proposing to turn the site into a glassblowing operation that would offer classes, demonstrations and shopping."The last thing we want to do is another coffee shop or condos," said Mary Devlin, who would own what's being called Barrio Glassworks. "We really wanted it to be part of the look of Carlsbad and to fit with sort of the real local community."Devlin said glassblowing is becoming rare these days, and was inspired after a trip to Murano Island in Venice with her son.
