LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Disgraced former film producer Harvey Weinstein -- who was already charged in Los Angeles with sex-related charges involving three women -- was charged Friday with sexually assaulting two other women in Beverly Hills.Los Angeles County prosecutors filed three new counts each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation against Weinstein, who is behind bars in New York after being convicted there of sexually assaulting two women.The latest charges involve the alleged rape of a woman at a hotel in Beverly Hills between September 2004 and September 2005 and two alleged attacks on a woman in November 2009 and November 2010 at a hotel in Beverly Hills, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.Weinstein was charged Jan. 6 with one count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by use of force and sexual battery by restraint in connection with alleged crimes involving two women in 2013, and prosecutors subsequently filed a charge of sexual battery by restraint in May involving a third woman at a Beverly Hills hotel in May 2010.Weinstein, 68, could face up to 140 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney's Office.Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said in a written statement that she is "thankful to the first women who reported these crimes and whose courage have given strength to others to come forward.""The willingness of these latest victims to testify against a powerful man gives us the additional evidence we need to build a compelling criminal case," the county's top prosecutor said.In July, the District Attorney's Office announced that it had filed court papers to move the extradition process forward, and an extradition hearing is set Dec. 11 in Buffalo.It remains unclear exactly how soon Weinstein will be brought to Los Angeles County.The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills police departments and the District Attorney's Bureau of Investigation. 2050

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A woman at Dodger Stadium was taken to a hospital Sunday for precautionary tests after being struck in the head by a foul ball from Los Angeles star Cody Bellinger during the first inning of a game against the Colorado Rockies.The young woman was sitting four rows from the field along the first base line, just beyond protective netting that extends to the end of the visiting dugout. She was hit by a sharp line drive by Bellinger, who checked on her between innings. She at first stayed in her seat and was given an ice pack, but she left about 15 minutes later for further attention.A first-aid person who treated the woman says she was taken to the hospital for precautionary tests but that she was alert and answering questions. The name of the woman was not released."It was weird. I saw it literally hit her face," Bellinger said. "I'm sure it was tough for everyone. I went over the next half inning to make sure. She said she was all right and gave me a thumb's up."Manager Dave Roberts came out to talk with Bellinger after the foul ball. Play was delayed for nearly six minutes as players watched the first-aid crew treat the woman.A woman died last August after being struck in the head by a foul ball at Dodger Stadium.All 30 major league stadiums expanded protective netting to at least the far ends of the dugouts at the start of the 2018 season after several fans were injured by foul balls two years ago.Fan safety has received further scrutiny after a young girl was struck by a foul ball in Houston during a game on May 29. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy who said he was shot in a station parking lot was lying.Assistant Sheriff Robin Limon said at a news conference late Saturday that Wednesday's "reported sniper assault was fabricated" by Angel Reinosa, a 21-year-old deputy.A department statement on Thursday had said a round hit the top of Reinosa's shoulder, damaging his uniform shirt but failing to penetrate his flesh.But Sheriff's Capt. Kent Wegener says no bullets were recovered from the scene and detectives saw "no visible injuries." He says Reinosa eventually admitted making up the story and using a knife to cut the two holes in his shirt.Reinosa has been relieved of his duties and will face a criminal investigation.
