PARADISE, Calif. (KGTV) - Dramatic body camera video recorded on the first day of Northern California's Camp Fire shows a Butte County Sheriff's deputy in what he thought would be the final moments of his life. BCSO Deputy Aaron Parmley was driving down Pentz Road in Paradise when his vehicle became disabled due to the firestorm. Parmley got out to run to safety.Fearing that he was about to die, Parmley switched on his body camera to document the situation the morning of Nov. 8.Video shows Parmley walking near a home and down the middle of a road with burning embers surrounding him. Other people, including a nurse and police officer, were walking nearby. Parmley's struggle to breathe in the heavy smoke is apparent. The life-saving moment happened roughly an hour and 14 minutes after Parmley turned on his camera. A bulldozer approached Parmley and the police officer, and both men got inside to be taken to safety. The Camp Fire went on to become the deadliest fire in California history, with 88 fatalities and 196 people missing as of Nov. 29. PHOENIX (AP) — Cindy McCain will advise Democrat Joe Biden's presidential transition team as it prepares for the former vice president to take office if he wins in November. Biden's transition team announced Monday that McCain will be the second Republican on the 16-member advisory board. McCain, a Republican, endorsed Biden last week. "Joe and I don't always agree on the issues, and I know he and John certainly had some passionate arguments, but he is a good and honest man," McCain tweeted. "He will lead us with dignity."McCain is the widow of former Republican senator and 2008 presidential nominee John McCain. Biden's transition team is preparing for a smooth transfer of power should Biden win the presidency. The teams typically line up candidates for key appointments and prepare to implement policies early in the new president's administration. 867

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Four Florida siblings were on a mission to bring their dad home. Scott Piwinski has terminal throat cancer and the community came together to grant his final wish. Quadruplets Nick, Danielle, Rachael and Sarah Piwinski were preparing to spend their last Thanksgiving with their dad.“My dad. He means everything to me,” Nick said.“It definitely has been a struggle. I’m grateful for my siblings,” Danielle chimed in.Together, the 21-year-old siblings worked to complete their dad’s final wish — to spend his remaining days in his own home.“For him to come home one last time and spend it with us — for hours, days or weeks — is going to be incredible,” Rachael said while wiping away tears. But two years fighting terminal throat cancer took a toll on Scott and his Palm Harbor, Florida home. From a hole in the roof to stained carpet, the home was in need of some TLC. “The entire house was not in any shape for him to come home to,” Danielle said.So the siblings put out a call to the community and Scott’s Coast Guard family, where he served as a chief for more than two decades.Almost immediately, dozens of volunteers fixed the roof, put in new floors and prepared Scott’s bedroom for his return.“They said if we were in this situation, we know Scott would do the same,” Sarah said with a smile.Next door neighbor Melissia Delgado was one of the volunteers to chip in.“When we first moved into our Palm Harbor home, Scott had just been diagnosed with cancer," Delgado said. "He had a trach in his throat and he was outside offering to help us move furniture into our house! Which was amazing.”Even strangers like Carissa Konopack donated an entire Thanksgiving meal.“It just touched me so deeply and I really felt like I wanted to help too,” Konopack explained. The Piwinski siblings hoped to bring their dad home by Thanksgiving, but an insurance mix-up pushed back their plans. However, he did return home Friday afternoon, much to his family's delight. But they spent the Thanksgiving holiday at Suncoast Hospice.“That means the most to us," Danielle said, "that we’re all together." 2171

Participating in a town hall discussion on Monday in the key battleground state of Florida, Joe Biden said he would implement a mandate of masks on federal property if elected president amid the coronavirus pandemic. The mandate would apply to places such as national buildings, Social Security offices and federal courthouses. Biden’s remarks stood in stark contrast with President Donald Trump, who made a point to remove his mask when he entered the White House on Monday after returning from the hospital. Trump is currently recovering from the coronavirus at the White House after a three-day stay at Walter Reed Medical Center. The primetime town hall featuring the former vice president was aired on NBC.Biden conceded that the president does not have the power to call for a nationwide mask mandate in all 50 states, but he would use the bully pulpit of the presidency to compel state and local leaders to enforce mask wearing in public spaces.“I would go out and I would call all of the governors to the White House, some probably wouldn’t come, and I would say… ‘take responsibility,’” Biden said. “Take responsibility and lay out the guidelines. One of the problems is this president said ‘I take no responsibility.’ Literally.“'It is not my responsibility.’ So if it is not his responsibility, he talked about this being like a time of war, we are under attack. As I said earlier, 200,000 plus have died, 50,000 plus a day are getting the virus (the average in recent days has been 40,000 per day), 1,000 per day or thereabout are dying, this is a national emergency.”Biden said that he was not surprised that Trump, his opponent in next month’s presidential election, was infected with the coronavirus.“Quite frankly, I wasn’t surprised,” Biden told NBC’s Lester Holt. “For the last three months, three times a week, I am on the telephone and on Zoom with some of the leading immunologists in the nation and they go through everything that is happening. So the idea that COVID does not spread in proximity when you don’t have a mask on and when you’re not socially distancing, when there are large groups of people, when your inside particularly, but even when you’re outside, that is not surprising. To watch the full town hall featuring Biden, click here. 2276
