Geese are terrifying. Everyone knows this. Their bites hurt land they have no respect for children or the elderly. In fact, they are the second-most terrifying bird behind turkeys (large, tenacious) and ahead of crows (eidetic, vengeful).So this momentous trio of photographs showing a Canada goose absolutely trucking a high school golfer near Blissfield, Michigan, is just a reminder of the natural order of things. You can have, as one Twitter user put it, a "quiver full of bird maulers" and a whole high school athlete's worth of physical power, but the goose is going to win every time. It's science.The unlucky human sacrifice here is Isaac Couling, a member of the Concord High School golf team. According to Blissfield Golf Coach Steve Babbitt, Couling, 16, was competing in the Madison Tournament at the World Creek Golf Course in Adrian, Michigan, when terror rained down."The group just finished teeing off on hole #7 and were walking down the fairway," Babbitt told CNN in an email. "They were aware of a goose nest on their left which they were looking at but not bothering when from behind them and to the right came the guard goose (protecting the nest)."Then came a rather alarming escalation, a whole Shakespearean tragedy in three acts. The Blissfield Athletics Twitter account explained that Couling was caught off guard by the charging bird as he was keeping an eye on another, probably equally threatening, goose.As Couling attempted to flee the chaos he tripped, allowing the goose a clear coup de grace.Said Blissfield Athletics on Twitter: "And you thought golf was boring?"Massive credit should also be given to Devon Pitts of Blissfield, the photographer who caught this inspiring moment of nature in action."You can say (she) was at the right place at the right time," Babbitt said.Fortunately, Couling is fine despite his close brush with winged evil. He tells CNN he was able to pick up the game where he left off, though only on the goose's terms."My clubs fell out and the goose guarded my golf clubs, so I had to finish with my teammate's clubs," he said. For many students, the isolation can be devastating.But one Colorado school is bringing people together and preventing bullying in a unique way.A table brought students Sydney Martin and Mirsadys Wilson together.“I came over here and I just wanted to make sure she was OK,” says Martin. “And I instantly saw the quote and I looked at her piece and I was like, ‘Dang.’”The quote reads, “Be kind.”It inspired martin to sit with Wilson, who was eating alone.“She was just like being really supportive,” says Wilson. “So, I was like, ‘wow, girl’s cool.’”That's the point of the Together Table--to make inclusion and connection easy.People at the National Mall in DC added the positive messages on the table. Then, the table was gifted to Central High School in Pueblo, Colorado by the No Bully Organization.“At first, they were a little timid. They weren't sure what it is,” says assistant principal Zach Odell. “They saw these little stools and all this riding on it and they didn't quite know what to take, because they're just used to being in their comfort zone. But once they really got going with the table, it turned out pretty good.”Odell says it's helps make lunch time less isolating, especially for students who may be bullied or excluded.“This table eliminates that you can't exclude somebody from sit with you because of the way this table is shaped,” Odell says.He and students say its open design makes meeting new people less intimidating. 1576

HAMPTON ROADS, Va - From Los Angeles to Wrigley Field, Norfolk to Virginia Beach, strange signs are bubbling up on telephone poles across the nation."So I went old school put up about five fliers in my neighborhood and saw it worked really well," said D.C. resident Joe Kogan.Kogan who lives in the nation's capital has spent the last six months working to make his four-inch Pufferfish “Rona” Insta-famous."Once I got all-around D.C, I drove through all the surrounding areas then even drove to Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Hampton, just looking for poles near people," said Kogan.Kogan has never owned a fish – quarantine piqued his interest in the underwater world, and his grassroots efforts have blown Rona into what he calls a "fin-influencer.""I am really glad I got her because she has been keeping everyone in this house sane," he said.She has more than 27,000 followers, more than the Virginia Aquarium."A lot of people think fish are kinda like gotta be weird to be a fish keeper and there is no respect in pet keeping community among fish," said Kogan. "I think Rona has put the fish keeping world on the map."The exotic fish dazzles followers daily with her live crawl fish feedings. She is still learning how to hunt and will soon reach her full size of two feet!"She is an underwater puppy and gets very excited to eat her food," said Kogan.
