Major 2020 election news will likely take place with Democratic nominee Joe Biden set to reveal his pick for vice president. THE PROCESSThe Biden team has been very secretive with the vetting process like previous presidential campaigns. According to sources, many top-level advisers are not even privileged to the selection process. Biden said months ago he would pick a woman to be his running mate but has not narrowed it down any further. THE POSSIBLE PICKSWhile it is possible Biden will pick someone not on this list, it is expected he will choose from these 11 women: Stacey Abrams: A former legislator in Georgia who came close to winning the Governor's Race in Georgia in 2018. Abrams is an African American leader and viewed as a rising star but some question whether she has enough national experience. Tammy Baldwin: A United States senator representing the swing state of Wisconsin, but some question whether she has had enough exposure on the national stage. Karen Bass: A member of the House of Representatives representing California, Bass is an experienced legislator and African-American leader. Being from California, however, doesn't help with swing states.Keisha Lance Bottoms: Mayor of Atlanta and an African-American leader, Bottoms, however, has limited national experience. Val Demings: A member of Congress from the crucial state of Florida, Demings is a prominent member of the Congressional Black Caucus who gained exposure during the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Some attack her time as a police chief, however. Tammy Duckworth: A United States senator representing Illinois, Duckworth is also a veteran. Some wonder if she is well-known enough. Michelle Lujan Grisham: As governor of New Mexico and a former Member of Congress, Grisham has the experience and is one of the nation's top Latinas. Critics point to the fact few know her outside of New Mexico. Kamala Harris: A United States senator and African-American leader, Harris is well-known as a former presidential candidate. Some Biden advisers don't like how she attacked Biden during the campaign, not to mention her time as a prosecutor could hurt her with some voters. Susan Rice: An African-American woman who served as former National Security Adviser under President Obama, Rice has qualifications but has never held elected office. Gretchen Whitmer: Whitmer leads the swing state of Michigan as governor but some question whether Biden should pick an African-American to serve as his number two. Elizabeth Warren: Warren is well-known on the national stage as a progressive, which could help turn out for Joe Biden. However, she is also a lightning rod for conservatives. 2686
Michael Rotondo, 30, thought he could eek out just a few more months under his parents' roof, but a New York judge ruled on Tuesday it's time for Rotondo to move out. According to the Syracuse Post-Standard, Rotondo gained praise from the judge for the legal arguments he made in court. But after a 90-minute debate, which included Judge Donald Greenwood trying to convince Rotondo to move out on his own, the judge ruled that it was legal to immediately evict the 30-year-old. Rotondo's parents had given him several notices to leave. At odds was Rotondo's belief that he was entitled to a six-month period after being formally notified that he was being evicted. The judge ruled that a six-month provision does not apply to family members. Rotondo???????'s said he was simply not ready to leave a bedroom in his parents' house. This being despite not being on speaking terms with is parents. Greenwood asked the parents to present the judge with an eviction notice that he could sign that would allow Rotondo a reasonable amount of time to move out. 1135
Michelle Obama's brother Craig Robinson has been named the executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.Robinson is leaving his job as the New York Knicks' Vice President of Player Development and Minor League Operations, a position he's held since 2017, to take over for Jim Haney, who held the NABC position for 29 years.“I’m extremely honored and excited for this tremendous and vital opportunity,” said Robinson in a press release. “I’d like to thank the NABC, our Board of Directors, President Jamie Dixon, and the search committee for selecting me at such an important time for our membership, our players, and our game. I look forward to the challenges ahead.”Robinson is now the fifth executive director in the association's history.“Craig encompasses everything we were looking for and more in the next leader of the NABC,” said Dixon, the head coach at TCU and 2020-21 NABC President in the release. “Craig’s experiences as a decorated student-athlete, an accomplished coach, and a high-level administrator uniquely position him to lead our association during this crucial moment in time for basketball. Given his background, education, and values, we have exceeded expectations from when we started the search. We’re confident that Craig will be an ally for coaches from all levels of our sport, and will continue to strengthen the collaboration between the NABC and the NCAA, the NBA, high schools, grassroots organizations, and numerous other key stakeholders,” Dixon added. “I would also like to thank Glenn Sugiyama and DHR International for supporting our search process.”Robinson formerly served as the head basketball coach at Brown and Oregon State. 1701

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — Workers installed 192 new glittering Waterford crystal triangles on Times Square's New Year's Eve ball on Sunday in preparation for a pandemic-limited celebration on Thursday. The ball is a 12-foot-diameter geodesic sphere covered with more than 2,000 crystal triangles of various sizes. Some new crystals are swapped in every year. This year's addition features a new “Gift of Happiness” design represented by a sunburst of bright cuts radiating outward. The ball, blazing with more than 32,000 LED lights, will be dropped at 11:59 p.m. on New Year's Eve to ring in 2021.The Times Square celebration will be much smaller than usual because of the coronavirus pandemic. There will be fewer than 100 people to ring in 2021 in person.Doctors, nurses, teachers, grocery store employees and transit workers will be invited to enjoy the celebration in socially distanced pens while everyone else watches from home.More than 180 million Americans and perhaps one billion worldwide are expected to watch the Times Square celebrations virtually online or on a free NYE app.The event will be headlined by Gloria Gaynor, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter and Jimmy Allen. This story includes reporting from Magee Hickey on PIX11.com. 1243
