(AP) — President Donald Trump’s campaign has requested a recount of votes in the Georgia presidential race, a day after state officials certified results showing Democrat Joe Biden won the state. Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger certified the state’s election results on Friday. Those results showed Biden beat Trump by 12,670 votes out of about 5 million cast. Republican Gov. Brian Kemp then certified the state’s slate of 16 presidential electors. The Trump campaign sent a hand-delivered letter on Saturday to the secretary of state’s office requesting the recount after an election fraught with unfounded accusations of fraud by Trump and his supporters. 683

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A young boy was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday night following a hit-and-run. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened on the 1000 block of Mar Vista Drive around 5 p.m. Lt. Ted Greenawald said a white sedan struck the 12-year-old before leaving the scene. Reports indicate that a second vehicle may have also hit the boy. That driver is said to have remained at the scene. The boy was taken to the Rady Children’s Hospital with injuries to his leg and cuts on his face. The child was conscious and responsive while being treated at the scene, Greenawald said. An initial investigation indicated that the vehicle that first struck the boy was a 2019-2020 white Toyota sedan. “The sedan should have damage to the right mirror and possible front-end damage,” the department said in a news release. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. City News Service contributed to this report. 988

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Pacific Beach Monday afternoon. According to police, the crash happened near the intersection of Mission Bay Drive and Garnet Avenue at 1:18 p.m. Witnesses told police the silver BMW was traveling fast before hitting a 67-year-old pedestrian in a raised median along Mission Bay Drive. The car then continued into the busy intersection and hit a Ford Fusion before flipping over and coming to a stop in the Enterprise Rental lot. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening head injuries, a broken pelvis and internal injuries. The 40-year-old driver of the BMW was uninjured and a woman in the Ford Fusion only had a complaint of pain. At this time, it's unclear whether or not drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. 865

"Black Panther" moved past "Titanic" on the all-time list of highest grossing films. But "A Quiet Place" took the top spot at this weekend's box office."Black Panther" has now made 5.4 million domestically, which makes the Disney and Marvel Studios film starring Chadwick Boseman the third-highest grossing film in North American history. When accounting for inflation, the superhero film clocks in at No. 34 on the all-time domestic list, according to industry data site Box Office Mojo."Black Panther" has been a phenomenon for Disney shattering box office records and cultural barriers in Hollywood. The film has made nearly .3 billion globally since opening in mid-February.As for the film that won this weekend, Paramount's "A Quiet Place" opened to a stellar million in North America. The near silent horror film starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt nabbed the second biggest opening of the year and nearly tripled its budget of million.
