Beginning July 1, California’s gas tax will increase by nearly six cents. Currently, the tax is 55.2 cents per gallon. When the additional tax kicks in, that figure will jump to more than 60 cents in taxes per gallon. Currently, the highest gas tax in the nation is in Pennsylvania at 58.7 cents. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 28-year-old man was hospitalized Monday with non- life-threatening wounds to his leg and hand after he was shot by another man in a parking lot near Mission Bay, police said.The shooting happened around 7:10 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot in the 2600 block of Ingraham Street, north of West Mission Bay Drive, San Diego police Sgt. Kevin Gibson said.The 28-year-old man was standing alone in the parking lot when another man approached him and fired five shots, striking the victim in the leg and the hand, Gibson said.The victim was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, the sergeant said.No detailed suspect description was immediately available.One person was detained at the scene and later arrested on unrelated charges, Gibson said. SAN DIEGO — The main stretch of Avenida de la Playa in the La Jolla Shores area is closing to vehicles through September so restaurants can set up tables out on the asphalt.Restaurants began setting up Wednesday for the outdoor service, which will run through Sept. 27. The change comes in response to a new round of Coronavirus related restrictions that make it illegal for restaurant to serve food indoors. Avenida de la Playa will close to cars from El Paseo Grande to Calle de la Plata. Restaurants will be setting up in the part of the street that was reserved for parking spaces. There will be a 20-foot wide walkway down the center of the road for pedestrians to pass. The move will allow restaurants that lost capacity due to restrictions a chance to add tables. The video was captured on October 25 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. At midnight, agents reportedly spotted a suspicious panga-style vessel landing on a beach near San Mateo Point in San Clemente. SAN DIEGO (AP) — A judge delayed the court-martial of a Navy SEAL accused of murder on Wednesday while lawyers resolve questions over whether the government's monitoring of emails compromised his right to a fair trial.Lawyers defending Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher want the judge in the case removed because he was aware prosecutors planted tracking software in emails sent to the defense team and a journalist in an effort to find the source of news leaks."What we believed is that the judge authorized prosecutors to spy on the defense team," attorney Tim Parlatore said after the hearing. "Now looking at things it appears that prosecutors may have lied to the judge and that he didn't authorize it and he didn't know what they were really doing."Gallagher, who was dressed in Navy whites at the hearing, was scheduled to face trial May 28 on charges he killed a wounded Islamic State prisoner under his care in 2017. He is also charged with shooting two civilians in Iraq and opening fire on crowds.Now that date is uncertain as the defense tries to learn more about the email tracking and whether it violated the attorney-client privilege and protections against illegal searches.Parlatore said leak investigation documents he was provided show the effort was done without a search warrant or proper authorization.Parlatore asked who else knew about the email tracking and Judge Capt.
