At 95 years old, not even a fall can slow down Jimmy Carter. After falling at his home on Sunday, Carter was in Nashville on Monday to fulfill his role as an ambassador and builder for Habitat for Humanity. The fall caused a noticeable bruise on Carter's face, which was partially covered by a bandage. Carter said he needed stitches after falling. The former president and his wife Rosalynn will oversee the construction of 21 homes in the Nashville area this week. This is the 36th work project the Carters have been involved in with Habitat for Humanity. “I continue to be in awe of the humble determination that President and Mrs. Carter display through their service,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “Their work has inspired countless people to join Habitat in our mission to build a world where everyone has a safe, decent and affordable place to live. All of us—from the families they’re working alongside in Nashville, to the millions who have been inspired by their good works —owe President and Mrs. Carter our thanks.”Working alongside dozens of others, the former president was seen with a drill in hand helping to build one of the homes. Carter acknowledged on Monday that he will have a limited schedule this week, but it was still important for him to be participate in this week's build. According to Habitat for Humanity, Carter has been involved in projects that have built, rebuilt or remodeled 4,331 homes. 1474

An autopsy report released Friday has revealed the cause of death of the 7-year-old Guatemalan girl who died after being taken into US Customs and Border Protection custody late last year.Jakelin Caal Maquin died from a bacterial infection known as streptococcal sepsis, according to the autopsy report from the medical examiner's office in El Paso County, Texas. The report says streptococcus bacteria was found in the girl's lungs, adrenal gland, liver and spleen. It goes on to say the infection was "rapidly progressive," which led to "multiple organ dysfunction and death."Jakelin died in December, two days after she and her father, Nery Gilberto Caal, 29, were detained by US Customs and Border Protection. The law offices of Lynn Coyle, who represents Jakelin's family, released a statement saying it will continue to ask for an independent investigation of her death."While the report sheds light on Jakelin's cause of death, it still leaves many questions that require further review," the statement said. "The report's findings suggest that Jakelin's chances of surviving would have been improved with earlier medical intervention. As we requested back in December of last year, the family seeks a thorough independent investigation of this matter to learn why medical intervention was delayed."The autopsy does not indicate how or when Jakelin caught the infection.CNN reached out to the CBP for comment, and was 1436

At Otra Vez Cantina in downtown Denver, workers use a lot of avocados. “We order about 15 cases a week," says general manager Kiersten Klaus. "More when we’re expecting to be busy."In less than a month, however, one of this restaurant’s top products have tripled in price.“We were going from 0 to 0 a week to ,500 dollars a week in avocados,” Klaus says.Klaus says the reasons for the price jump range from the fear of new international tariffs to a bad growing season in Mexico, which is America’s main supplier of avocados. Down the street at Benny’s Restaurant, they’re experiencing the same avocado economics. General manager Leonardo Armas says the increased cost is now cutting into his bottom line.“It’s crazy,” he says. “But you got to do what you got to do.”Armas says his sources south of the border tell him crooks are now trying to cash in on avocados. “I hear some crazy stories that cartels that will grab little trucks, take over them, steal a bunch of avocados, because they’re worth a lot of money over there,” he says.Avoprice.com--a Mexican-based produce monitoring group--says some avocado trucks have been hijacked, but that the main reasons for higher prices are low supply and a growing demand. Both restaurants say they won’t pass this extra cost of avocados on to their customers. Buying avocados on your own, however, isn’t as financially forgiving. At a popular national grocery chain, who requested we not use its name, avocado prices have gone up 96 percent in the past few weeks. Now, some customers are experiencing a little sticker shock when it comes to buying avocados, saying it’s impacting their shopping. “Even though I’m addicted to avocados, I won’t buy them until the price comes down,” says shopper Kate Abany. 1769
