CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The man suspected of robbing a South Bay credit union was arrested following a crash Wednesday afternoon. According to Chula Vista Police, a man entered the Cal Coast Credit Union on the 300 block of East H Street around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the man approached the teller window with his hand in his pocket simulating a weapon and demanded cash from the employee. After receiving the cash, the suspect left the credit union, getting into a getaway vehicle. Police were able to locate suspect based on vehicle information provided by a customer at the credit union. Officers spotted the vehicle going eastbound on H Street and tried to pull the suspect over, but he didn’t stop instead leading police on a chase. At some point during the chase, police say the man ran a red light on Otay Lakes Road, slamming into another vehicle. Both the suspect and victim in the crash were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police haven’t yet released the name of the suspect but say he is under arrest for the bank robbery and felony evasion. 1100

Chick-Fil-A is testing a new menu item in Arizona, and depending on how it goes, it could be rolled out to menus nationwide.Starting Monday, spicy chicken strips will be available at Chick-Fil-A restaurants in Phoenix, Tucson and Yuma, the fast-food chain said.They've been under test in Philadelphia and Texas since last year.The strips come in orders of three or four, and a choice of dipping sauce.The company said it combined their original chicken strips and spicy chicken strip sandwich to create the new menu item.The strips are seasoned with a spicy blend of peppers, hand-breaded, and cooked in refined peanut oil. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- A family and their pets forced out of their Chula Vista home after smoke started to fill the upper floor.Fire crews responded to the home on Montcalm Street around 2 a.m.Firefighters got there and looked for flames, but only found smoke in the attic due to a possible electrical issue.The fire department rendered the home uninhabitable due to tearing apart the walls and ceilings to find the fire.Everyone made it out safely, but an 87-year-old woman was treated with oxygen. 506

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - This week Chula Vista Police shut down yet another illegal cannabis dispensary, an ongoing problem that's grown in recent years. While the city doesn't allow any cannabis sales at the moment, police believe there's roughly a dozen or more operating illegally in the city.“One of the challenges with unlicensed, illegal cannabis business is that they move and they change. The number of facilities is always changing, the location of facilities changes quite frequently," said Captain Phil Collum.Captain Collum says their most recent bust was one of the most egregious cases he's seen, from the number of cannabis products to security measures.“I was standing inside the facility and was shocked at what they had done," said Collum. "The windows were sealed shut with metal plating; the front door was actually, had a welded security grate that was locked closed, it had pretty much sealed off any emergency evacuation routes to this facility.”He says if there were a fire or sudden emergency in the building people could have been trapped. Captain Collum said they were alerted to the illegal operation by neighbor complaints. "It’s so important that community contact us and let us know where they believe an illegal cannabis for marijuana business might be located.”Chula Vista PD partnered with Chula Vista's Office of the City Attorney and the Code Enforcement Department to serve a civil abatement warrant for the illegal cannabis dispensary. “I’m not frustrated with the process, what’s frustrating quite honestly is people are taking advantage of our community.”Captain Collum urges the public to continue notifying authorities when they spot illegal businesses popping up in the city. 1731

CINCINNATI – Police arrested a Cincinnati woman Tuesday after she left her 7-month-old child in her vehicle while she visited a hair salon, according to court records.Jaimyce McClinton, 37, is charged with one count of endangering a child.An officer found McClinton's baby locked in the vehicle as the temperature outside reached 76 degrees, court records state.The arresting officer noted the “feels like” temperature outside was 84 degrees.Police said the baby was left alone in the locked vehicle for 34 minutes.Court records did not state the baby’s condition or the location of the salon. 611
