CHULA VISTA, Calif., (KGTV)- It has been one week since the brutal attack and rape of a young woman at Otay Park. But Chula Vista Police say their investigation is far from over. Now nearby schools are reminding parents to stay vigilant. Chula Vista Police said last Monday, a woman in her 20’s was exercising on the stairs at Otay Park. But on her way down, someone pushed her from behind, knocking her unconscious.The perpetrator then raped her, stole her things, and ran.When she woke up, she managed to flag someone down at the park, who then called 9-1-1.It has been seven days into the investigation. But the Chula Vista police department says the perpetrator is still at large. Detectives are now reviewing and enhancing several pieces of video evidence.They are also waiting to get the results of the victim’s rape kit. (KGTV) - Chula Vista Police on Wednesday identified the man stabbed to death in what officers described as a road rage incident.Horace Williams, 36, was involved in the fight with 60-year-old Rickey Smith on Sweetwater Road Tuesday, police said.Witnesses told police Smith was following Williams’ van as the two yelled at each other. Smith’s pickup struck the van from behind, then Smith pulled in front of the van and stopped abruptly, witnesses said. Witnesses said he was wearing his uniform at the time of the incident.“This report is deeply disturbing. He is the organist at St. Steven’s Church of God, where his wife is the director of the youth choir. Parishioners told 10News the Smiths are a “very nice couple”. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A pedestrian died and others, including children, were injured Monday in a crash involving a construction truck in Chula Vista. The truck driver lost control about 1:15 p.m. in the 500 block of 4th Ave near Shasta Street, police said. The location is a residential street near Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista. The truck hit parked cars including a black pickup, which then struck a pedestrian before flipping over, said officers.Paramedics took the pedestrian to the hospital with critical injuries. The victim, an 81-year-old, later died, police confirmed. A mother and her two children, a baby and a girl, were in a parked car and suffered minor injuries. Chula Vista police are investigating the cause of the crash. At this time, police say it's unclear whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved. 844

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man who allegedly stabbed and seriously injured another man with a screwdriver during a San Ysidro street robbery pleaded not guilty Friday to attempted murder, robbery and vandalism charges.Eduardo Hernandez Oliveros, 22, is accused of robbing the victim just before 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17 in the 600 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard.Police said the victim was using his cell phone when Oliveros confronted him on the street and asked to use the phone. Before the victim could react, Oliveros allegedly snatched the phone out of his hand and took off.Deputy District Attorney Daniel Shim alleged the victim chased Oliveros down and a "physical struggle" ensued, culminating in the defendant stabbing the victim in the face and neck with a screwdriver.Bystanders called police, who responded and arrested Oliveros, who faces more than 25 years in state prison if convicted of all charges, according to the prosecutor.The victim, whose name was not released, was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department, which alleged that Oliveros "admitted he was trying to kill the victim."Oliveros has a prior attempted murder conviction for stomping on his girlfriend's head, stabbing her in the leg and telling her he was going to kill her, according to Shim. He was found guilty in 2015 in Riverside County, according to the criminal complaint.Bail was set at million for Oliveros, who is due back in court Oct. 14 for a readiness conference. 1503
