CAMPO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Crews were able to stop the forward rate of spread after a fast-moving brush fire sparked in Campo Sunday afternoon. According to the agency, the fire started around 1:30 p.m. in the area of I-8 and Old Highway 80. Cal Fire originally said the blaze had a rapid rate of spread with structures threatened. Crews later said the forward rate of spread had been stopped at 1.5 acres. CASTAIC (CNS) - A man who stole an SUV from a customer at a Santa Monica dealership led authorities on a chase for over two hours Friday, from South Los Angeles to Ventura County, before being arrested in the Castaic area.The man allegedly stole the Subaru from a person visiting a Santa Monica dealership "a few days ago," according to Sgt. Blake Cooper of the Santa Monica Police Department, but details were not immediately available.The chase started about 6:15 p.m. Friday, the Los Angeles Police Department said. It was not immediately clear where the chase began. The driver had a woman with him at the beginning of the pursuit, but she got out, according to broadcast reports. 692

CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - Tuesday night a teen was seen on camera stealing a decoration right off a home's walkway.The Klus family moved to Bressi Ranch three months ago, from Boston, and were thrilled to become part of the neighborhood tradition."I'm totally blown away I had no idea it was this extensive and this creative and it's incredible the scenes of it come up with the kids are loving it," Visitor Amanda Alcorn said."When we moved here the kids were super excited super pumped to be included in the decorating," Nora Klus said. She has a daughter in 5th grade and a son in 2nd grade.They transformed their entry into Skele-topia, a night at the movies.Wednesday morning she noticed something was wrong. She looked at the footage on her Ring Neighbors App from the night before, "I saw a few, it looked like teenagers, and then the last one in the group just snatched our little decoration.""My son was crushed, he was like why would anyone do that?" CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - A photographer in Carlsbad is helping to preserve the memory of the Greatest Generation, one portrait at a time.John Riedy works with The Greatest Generations Foundation. The group takes Veterans back to the battlefields on which they fought.During the trips, Riedy takes a portrait of each vet on their battlefield."It helps them realize that we’re not going to forget these guys," Riedy says. "When they’re gone, their legacies are going to live on."Over the last 12 years, Riedy has gone on nearly 50 trips with the Foundation and taken close to 300 portraits.For the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, he chose 75 of his favorite to hang in two galleries near Normandy and Omaha Beach."I think they were blown away to see their portraits up there," Riedy says of the reaction the Vets had when they got a first look at the galleries.Riedy says it's his personal way to honor the sacrifices they made."When you step onto Omaha beach, or you go to that cemetery at Omaha, and you see what they were up against when you see those cliffs, it's awe-inspiring," he says. "It’s like a switch flipped inside me. From them on I knew this was going to be my calling."Riedy and the Foundation have started to expand the program beyond World War II Veterans.
