WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The hurricane season continues to be active with the formation of a new tropical storm and a depression in the last 12 hours.Tropical depression 17 formed Sunday night in the Atlantic and became Tropical Storm Paulette just before 11 a.m. Monday. The storm has 40 mph winds with higher gusts and is moving west, northwest at 3 mph.Paulette is the earliest forming 16th named storm on record, breaking an old record set by Philippe on September 17, 2005, according to hurricane expert Philip Klotzbach.A slow-motion toward the northwest or north-northwest is expected tonight. Paulette is then forecast to move a little faster and generally westward on Tuesday and Wednesday.Early indications are it may curve before it reaches the Bahamas, but we will keep an eye on it just in case. It may interact with tropical depression 18, located behind it, which also formed Monday morning.Paulette's path and/or intensity might change because of its proximity to tropical depression 18. 1009
When scrolling through your Instagram feed, there's a good chance you've seen photos of friends posing in front of giant works of art on the sides of buildings. These colorful murals are a great way for an artist to make a name for themselves. But beyond that, the murals can be great for a neighborhood and its businesses.Tracy Weil is midway through his latest project: a 125-foot long mural in Denver’s River North Arts District.Murals like Weil’s do more for a neighborhood than add a splash of color to an otherwise dull brick wall."It can really kind of give an identity to a neighborhood, which I think is pretty fantastic,” says Weil. “If there’s not a lot of people there, not a lot of restaurants, what the murals do is they start to draw people. And they start to draw business."That’s exactly why the events center and nightclub behind the freshly-painted wall hires artists like Weil."I think it’s a great way to bring attention, to not just your specific business maybe, but to a neighborhood, to a region," says Andrew Feinstein, owner of EXDO Events Center and Tracks nightclub. “Regardless of what murals cost, it’s absolutely the right investment."And it’s an investment that's paying off, particularly when it comes to presence on social media. John Beldock, owner of a local motorsport store and body shop, says their mural of Evel Knievel has seen its share of Instagram tags."Branding-wise, it really adds to what people think about us," says Beldock.“It’s exiting to be a part of it; it makes a great selfie or Facebook profile pic or Instagram post,” says Weil. “And people really get into it.” 1631
What if there was a way to make money, while saving money? An app called Grand claims to do just that, motivating people to save by entering them into a sweepstakes. How does it work? You'll need to link up your bank account to the app. Then, you’ll designate how much money you want to set aside each week. Each dollar gives you an entry into a sweepstakes; you get extra entries if you refer friends or reach certain milestones, like paying off debt. The prize money varies. You could win a prize, or you could win up to ,000. If you wait until October, you could win ,000!But even if you don't win, you are still making some money off your savings.Grand guarantees users a 1% return on their savings. You will, however, need to pay /month to keep your account. So if you do all the math, that means you'll need to keep about ,100 in your account to make it count. If you feel hesitant about linking up your bank account to an app, just know that the app is FDIC insured. 984
With growing concerns about the privacy of using Facebook, users may want to see what the social media giant is collecting about you.It was revealed Sunday that Facebook's Android app has been collecting call and text histories. This includes every like, comment, photo, etc., since you first started using Facebook. This content is then used to target advertisements toward you. Here's what you need to do to download that data: 574
