Two medical facilities have advised the state of Louisiana that they are laying off more than 250 employees because of damage sustained during Hurricane Laura.WARN notices, which are required when a certain number or percentage of employees are to lose their jobs, were sent to the state by the Lake Charles Memorial Health System and Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Lake Charles.LCMHS has laid off 205 employees, and Oceans has laid off about 50, according to their WARN letters to the state."Lake Charles Memorial Health System will experience a reduction in its workforce, and a number of employees of the Moss Memorial Campus, support services and the Archer Campus will experience layoffs, as a result of damage sustained from Hurricane Laura," the September 28 WARN letter states. "It is with regret that I must report to you that the company has decided to reduce its operations at Lake Charles Memorial Health System. TUCSON, Arizona — A Tucson, Arizona man who had been in an altercation fired a gun at a police officers, hitting one of the officer's belt. The belt prevented a bullet from entering his body.That man, 51-year-old Roy King, was in a bar with his wife and family when an argument started. King's stepson, who was at the bar, called 9-1-1.During the argument in the bar, King allegedly pulled out a handgun and threatened two people. King then headed to his home.Tucson police officers went to the home in response to the 9-1-1 call and found King's vehicle in the driveway. When the officers approached the car, King started to yell at them from the backyard. He still had the handgun.During the confrontation between King and two officers, gunfire was exchanged. One of the rounds fired by King hit an officer's duty belt. The belt stopped the bullet from injuring the officer.King then went inside his home and called 9-1-1. Additional TPD officers went to the home and were able to talk King into coming outside. He was not injured and was taken into custody.Roy King was booked into Pima County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Both feature improvements to sports fields, the Mission Bay Golf Course, green space, walking paths, playgrounds and beaches. "This is appalling," Veterinarian Adrienne Moore said.Moore unearthed a plastic bag in a pile of horse manure with small horse bones. She believes it was a still birth. She found shoulder and rib bones, hair she postulated either from the mane or tail.The HiCaliber Horse Ranch came under scrutiny, accused of buying sickly horses at auction then killing them at the horse ranch. "As far as the eye can see and what we're walking on right now is still the manure pile," Travis Fox said there were five piles six feet deep of manure. Brenda said the property looks incredibly better compared to a week prior.The couple filed a lawsuit against the founder of HiCaliber for damages.
