(KGTV) — Before you reluctantly stretch the outer edges of your mouth to appear as though you approve of the subject at hand, consider your liver.According to a recent study by researchers at Penn State and the University of Buffalo, forcing a smile at work could lead to drinking heavily after hours.Researchers interviewed more than 1,500 participants who routinely work with the public, including nurses, service industry workers, and teachers. RELATED: San Diego among top cities where adults still live with parents, study saysData showed that those who found themselves regularly faking or amplifying positive emotions, like smiling, were more likely to engage in heavier drinking after work, researchers said. Those who suppressed negative emotions (eye roll, anyone) were also more likely to drink heavily after work.While previous research has linked service workers with problematic drinking, Alicia Grandey, professor of psychology at Penn State, said it's not clear why. "Faking and suppressing emotions with customers was related to drinking beyond the stress of the job or feeling negatively," Grandey said. "It wasn't just feeling badly that makes them reach for a drink. (KGTV) — Disneyland's "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" expansion will host the park's most complex attraction ever — and possibly at any theme park.During Star Wars Celebration this weekend in Chicago, Disney's Imagineering team dished on "Galaxy's Edge" attractions and the creation of the land. Part of that came a few tidbits regarding the second highly-anticipated ride coming this year: "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance."RELATED: The rides, foods, toys you'll get to enjoy at Disneyland's 'Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge'"This is the biggest attraction we’ve ever built," Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, said during the presentation. "It should be epic, because, Star Wars, right? That’s why we’re going big with this attraction."A trailer teasing the attraction was played for the Chicago audience showing various scenes from "Rise of the Resistance," images Trowbridge said were captured directly from inside the attraction.“It is the biggest, it is one of the most complex attraction experiences that we or anyone else has ever built," Trowbridge said.RELATED: Disney's Star Wars land: The good, the bad — and no Fast Passes?"Rise of the Resistance" pits riders smack dab inside a First Order Star Destroyer, as they try to escape a fleet of Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren himself. There are even life-size recreations of Poe Dameron's X-Wing and A-Wing fighters and TIE fighters.Imagineers also revealed custom bottles of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite and Dasani coming to the "Star Wars" land, fashioned into a droid-like shape and covered in Aurebesh, a fictional language used in the film franchise. (KGTV) - Home improvement stars Chip and Joanna Gaines of HGTV's Fixer Upper are teaming up with Target for a new decor line.Target is pairing with the Gaines' home brand Magnolia to create 'Hearth and Hand', featuring the couple's signature style.The Waco, Texas couple is known for innovations like using shiplap and barn doors for decorating.While most of Target's collaborations are limited, the Hearth and Hand product line will last for several years, with new products every season.The first collection arrives November 5, Target said. Prices will range from $.99 to 9.99.To celebrate the partnership, Magnolia will work with Target House and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to redesign their dining room. 729

(KGTV) - Andrea McGee has a chalkboard on the wall of her two-bedroom townhome in Santa Barbara. It reads, "Everything will be okay once you're okay with everything.""That was my mantra for this month," McGee said. In this case, she's okay with being a psychotherapist with a master's degree that must live paycheck to paycheck in Santa Barbara, a city of about 92,000 about 85 miles north of Los Angeles. McGee loves the city dearly, but it costs her.She and a roommate are splitting the ,700 a month rent for the aging townhome, with a kitchen so small only one person can fit inside at a time."Everybody talks about the new promise lands - the Denvers, the Portlands, and now it's even Boise, Idaho is the place to go," McGee said. "But I'm just trying to make it work in Paradise."With its big sandy beaches, an expansive boardwalk and a quaint shopping district downtown, Santa Barbara calls itself the American Riviera. But many of the people who work in the city can't afford it. An estimated 25,000 to 30,000 people commute to their jobs daily from affordable areas, some from more than 50 miles away. "We’ve had some employers leave town because of the high cost of housing," said Rob Fredericks, who runs the Santa Barbara Housing Authority. The relative hollowing out of the city's job market goes hand-in-hand with Santa Barbara's extreme housing crunch. At one point last year, Fredericks said the apartment vacancy rate was below 0.5 percent. The average rent for a two-bedroom apartment is now ,500 a month. "Sure, we could solve the housing problem in Santa Barbara if up and down State Street we created 12 story developments, but that's not going to happen," Fredericks said. "That will not happen."San Diego, on the other hand, can build up. It's those tall, dense buildings that could keep the city from becoming the next Santa Barbara. The city of San Diego is now updating community plans to streamline thousands of new housing units, many near transit centers. But builders still need to step up, and cost and regulations are still issues."Our region's needed new housing production is approximately at half of what is required to just keep up with population growth," said Borre Winckel, who heads the San Diego Building Industry Association.Winckel said the city of San Diego has shown a bipartisan approach to embrace higher densities, streamlining development applications, and deferring developer fees. But he says the industry still deals with the high cost of labor and community character concerns. Santa Barbara, on the other hand, has an incentive program with a goal of adding 250 new units near transit centers. But 5,500 people are already on its affordable housing waiting list.Ryan LaTorre works two jobs in Santa Barbara - as a server and clerk at a souvenir shop on Stearns Wharf - just to pay ,200 a month to split a bedroom with his significant other. "Santa Barbara's a very small town," he said. "I feel like if you're not in school or you're not retired, there's kind of like no in-between in there.
