SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More rain arrived in San Diego Wednesday, less than a week after a storm swept through the county, leaving some areas flooded and city crews preparing for the wet weather.In Coronado, on First Street, crews worked to clear pipes near the shoreline. This is a large reason for flooding in the area. Public Services Director, Clifford Maurer, says flooding comes after sand and sediment gets into the storm drain from the high tides.“Some of the outfalls, the pipes that go into the bay or into the open waters have flapper valves on them. So they only allow water to go out, not come in,” says Maurer. “But when the water is above those valves there’s nothing you can do. The bags are already filled and can be picked up at four different locations around the island.The City of San Diego is also preparing for the rain. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Wednesday released bodycam video following a deadly officer-involved shooting in Oak Park in late January. The graphic video opens with San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit explaining what led up to the shooting. According to Nisleit, officers spotted Toby Diller, 31, on the 2900 block of 54th Street with an open container of alcohol. RELATED: Officers, suspect identified in deadly Oak Park shootingNisleit says officers activated lights on their patrol car and tried to make contact with Diller, but he ran away. Video of the incident shows the officers, later identified as Benjamin Downing and Devion Johnson, running after Diller before catching up to him. At that point, Nisleit says Diller resisted arrest, grappling with police on the ground. "The officers gave him verbal commands to stop resisting, but he refused to cooperate,'' Lt. Matt Dobbs previously said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a teenager was shot in San Diego’s Linda Vista neighborhood Thursday afternoon. According to police, a 17-year-old boy was walking with a 16-year-old girl near the 6900 block of Linda Vista Road around 12:30 p.m. Police say a silver sedan pulled up beside the pair and someone inside shot the 17-year-old in the stomach. The teen suffered minor injuries, according to police, who said he was uncooperative.Police say, during the shooting, the teens ducked behind a car in the area. The vehicle was heavily damaged. San Diego Police say officers searched a neighborhood near Tecolote Canyon for the suspect. Witnesses stated they saw five men driving away in a gray or light colored vehicle. 750

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Neighborhoods near the Miramar Landfill are reporting a resurgence of awful odors they believe are coming from the landfill. "You come out the door in the morning and it just hits you," said Matty Wuest of University City. About a mile away, fellow resident Janis Deady concurs. "Like last night at in the morning," she says, "the smell woke me up out of a dead sleep." So, exactly what does it smell like? The distant neighbors are at no loss for words. "If you take the natural gas smell," said Matty, "Mix that with dog poop and vomit. That's what it smell like." Janis said she'd lived near the landfill for more than 20 years without an issue, but that changed about three years ago. "All of the sudden in the 2016 we started smelling putrid, disgusting, horrid smells."The distant neighbors say complaints in 2016 lead to hearings with the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District; resulting in fines for the City of San Diego and mitigation measures that appeared to solve the problem. But in recent weeks they say the smell is back."You shouldn't have to live like that," said Janis, "Not when we pay these taxes." A public information officer for San Diego said by phone the short story is the rain. That as soon as the Miramar Landfill has a chance to dry out from all the recent rains, the odors will dry up as well. But residents say that's not sufficient. "I hope the city would mitigate this and not blame it on the rain or other excuses." Said Matty. "Bottom line," said Janis, "It's got to stop. This is from 2016 to now.
