International stores are not part of the restructuring agreement."This transaction substantially reduces the debt on our balance sheet," Claire's CEO Ron Marshall said in a statement. "We will complete this process as a healthier, more profitable company." Marshall came from now-defunct bookstore chain Borders. Claire's struggles stem from a deal it struck more than a decade ago that left it burdened with debt.In 2007, Apollo Management, a private equity firm, bought Claire's for .1 billion and took the company private in what's known as a leveraged buyout.Claire's could never escape its debt load. COPPER CENTER, Alaska – A hunter was killed by a grizzly bear in a national park in Alaska.The National Park Service (NPS) says it happened Sunday at Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in the southeastern part of the state.According to NPS, the hunter was on a 10-day moose hunt with a friend when the bear attacked near the Chisana River drainage.Specific injuries in the attack have not been disclosed, but it appears nobody else was harmed during the incident.Officials say this is the first known bear mauling fatality recorded at the park since it was established in 1980.“Visitors are encouraged to be Bear Aware when traveling in the backcountry and take precautions such as carrying bear spray and using Bear Resistant Food Containers (BRFC),” wrote NPS in a statement. “The park also encourages hunters to read Bear Safety for Hunters located on the ADF&G website.”The identity of the deceased hunter is being withheld pending investigation, NPS says. 979

CLEVELAND — A Cleveland school security guard who was charged with rape, accused of soliciting and sexually assaulting multiple students, was reported for inappropriate behavior to Cleveland Metropolitan School District months before he was arrested. Derrick Dugger, 29, a security guard at East Technical High School in Cleveland is due back in court Tuesday morning for the charges. According to court records, investigators said he forced a 15-year-old girl to perform oral sex and sent inappropriate messages to students. A detective wrote in the report that Dugger was “predatory” and “a danger to these young ladies.”Dugger was formally charged with rape last week after an investigation began earlier in November, but one Cleveland family told Scripps affiliate WEWS-TV that they reported him months before.According to Joyce Swann, her 15-year-old daughter who has special needs made a complaint about Dugger soon after the school year began at East Technical High School.A CMSD report of that complaint obtained by WEWS is dated September 7 — more than 2 months before Dugger was charged.In the report, Swann’s daughter told the dean that at first, the guard asked her if she had a boyfriend and asked to check her phone. The next day, he greeted her by saying, “Good morning baby.”After that, the student reported, the guard told her he “liked the way she twerked that a**” on Instagram.The student said she felt uncomfortable and reported it to the dean, who called her mother and told her they would take a report and investigate.But Swann said she never heard an update until the day Dugger was charged.“Who would say that to a little kid? You’re supposed to be making sure these kids are safe and you’re preying on them,” Swann said.She said she is terrified of what could have happened had her daughter not reported it — and angry that the school didn’t do more initially.“My daughter is a special needs child. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Coronado Unified School District is mourning the loss of one of their most popular crossing guards. Bruce Campbell, or Mr. Bruce as the kids knew him, passed away on Monday. According to his brother, Bruce was at work Monday when he collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital. Campbell went into cardiac arrest and passed away on his way to the hospital. Students and parents set up a memorial on the corner of Sixth and F Street, where he worked every day for the last several years. His brother tells 10News he died doing the job he loved most. In a statement, the district told the Coronado Times that school counselors will be working with students as needed. Bruce Campbell was 68 years old.  770
