MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — With coronavirus cases still surging in the United States, Google has reportedly pushed back the timeline for when its employees will return to their offices.The New York Times and NBC News both report Google is planning to return to in-person working in September 2021, instead of July.That’s according memo sent to staff Sunday, which also said the company would be testing the idea of a “flexible work week” once workers do return to offices.Under the pilot plan, The Times says employees would be asked to work at least three days in their offices for “collaboration days,” and work the other days at home.The CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, wrote in the memo that they want to test the hypothesis that flexible work models lead to greater productivity, collaboration, and well-being.Google isn’t alone in testing these kinds of work schedules. Other tech companies like Microsoft, Facebook, and Twitter have expressed interest or released plans for rolling out similar models.Another aspect of getting people back to work will be COVID-19 vaccines. However, it’s still not known whether Google and other large companies like it will require its employees to be vaccinated before returning to their offices.Though, a spokeswoman told The Times that Google has said it recommends that employees obtain a vaccine when it’s available to them and that it may help facilitate vaccinations once the most vulnerable have been inoculated. 1490

NATIONAL CITY, Cali. — A California woman is heartbroken after she was forced to leave her beloved fish at Denver International Airport.It was supposed to be a happy homecoming for Lanice Powless and her best friend."I've taken him everywhere with me," she said.But Wednesday, the University of Colorado sophomore left Denver without "Cassie," her pink, male beta fish."This lady was just not having it," Powless said. "So the supervisor comes and she said 'Unfortunately, you cannot bring fish onto Southwest Airlines."Her freshman year in Colorado, Powless admitted she was lonely and wanted a pet. She considered getting a dog or cat but her mother convinced her that a fish would be a better fit. She got Cassie at the local Petco, but did not realize she would end up falling in love with him."I put my finger in there, he come up and nibble my finger. He was a cool fish," she said. NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- The world's last male northern white rhino died Monday in Africa, putting the species closer to extinction.The rhino, named "Sudan" died of age-related complications. Mobs of kangaroos have been raiding patches of grass in the Australian capital Canberra, driven to the city's sports fields, back yards and roadsides by food scarcity.Canberra residents have taken to social media with images of the jumping marsupials exploring outside their usual habitats. But beyond the cute photo opportunities, the hungry kangaroos are at risk of dying on the roads as their feeding times coincide with rush hour.Canberra has more than 30 nature reserves, with most hosting hundreds of Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and it is not unusual to see them in the reserves or in roads or yards nearby, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Parks and Conservation Service Director Daniel Iglesias told CNN.But he said this winter the animals were far more visible."Canberra is experiencing a perfect storm of hardship for its kangaroos. New records have been set in Canberra for very cold, frosty nights this winter. This, coupled with very dry conditions with very little rain at all in June and July, means there is very little food for kangaroos, " Iglesias said, via email."Sports ovals, suburban yards, schoolyards and roadsides are the few places offering any green grass at all in Canberra at the moment and they act as magnets for kangaroos," he said.Driving in areas with large populations of kangaroos is ill-advised during the animals' dawn and dusk feeding times as they can jump in front of moving vehicles without warning. MILWAUKEE -- Six cars were damaged Friday when light poles fell across traffic lanes on I-43 near Milwaukee.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a red pick-up truck heading northbound hit both of the light poles in the median just before 3:30 p.m. A witness at a law firm off Hampton Avenue said she saw the truck drive up onto the median and hit one pole, before continuing on to hit a second. "Unfortunately one of them kind of struck the side of the car, put a hole in the door, took a mirror out," said Jim Lovering, whose daughter called him after swerving to avoid the two poles.Lovering's 7-month-old grandson was also in the car. "Just missed the windshield, which was a blessing," said Lovering. The camera caught deputies taking away the driver of the red truck in handcuffs. Authorities have not yet released any information confirming an arrest, or possible charges. The accident caused backups for miles during rush hour, as crews worked to remove the poles from the roadway. No one in any of the cars was injured. "It was just nice that she had the space to maneuver and without hitting anybody else or causing any further damage," said Lovering. "It could be potentially you know a serious accident. Thank God it didn't happen."  1341
