SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Holiday light displays are one of the best aspects of the holiday season.Thousands upon thousands of lights in some cases dress up homes and businesses throughout San Diego County, bringing out families and friends to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season.Throughout the county, San Diegans have numerous displays to drive to and admire. Some are snuggled in cul-de-sacs around town, others, larger events that continue the fun throughout the end of the year.Here's where you can catch San Diego's best light displays this season:(Links for display locations can be found by clicking the location in the map above.)Displays"Carlsbad Christmas House" can be found on Romeria Street in Carlsbad. Lights are on display from Dec. 2 to Dec. 31, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (closed rain days.) "Christmas on Knob Hill" is located at Knob Hill Road in San Marcos. Lights are displayed from Nov. 22 to Dec. 30, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Santa will make an appearance from Dec. 14 to Dec. 23, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. "Candy Cane Lane" covers Hickory Ct., Hickory St., Butterwood Ct., and Rockrose Ct. in Poway. "Christmas Card Lane" is located on Oviedo St. off Black Mountain Rd. in Rancho Penasquitos. "Belardo Lights" runs on Belardo Dr. through Dec. 27. Lights will be on from about 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. nightly. "Starlight Circle/Sunburst Santee" covers Tomel Ct. off Magnolia Ave. in Santee. Residents have their own schedule for how long lights will be up, but they’ll generally be on from about 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. "The Forward House" in Banker’s Hill is located at Ivy St. and 1st Ave. The house will be lit generally from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Events"December Nights" will hit Balboa Park on Dec. 7 and 8. The park will be decked out in lights as well as holiday music, vendors, and food. "Jungle Bells" welcomes the holidays to San Diego Zoo from Dec. 14 - Jan. 6. The park will run daily light shows and entertainment with zoo staff and animals. "San Diego Bay Parade of Lights" brings out boats dressed in hundreds of lights to the bay, as they parade on the water Dec. 9 and 16. "Garden of Lights" at San Diego Botanic Gardens showers the garden in more than 125,000 lights, and hosts marshmallow roasting, a musical light show, and more. "Christmas Celebration" at SeaWorld San Diego runs from Nov. 17 to Jan. 6, bringing a 40-foot Christmas tree, Santa’s village, and delicious foods to the theme park. 2429

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Friends of Anthony Womack, the teenager who died after jumping from Sunset Cliffs Wednesday, spent the morning joining a local car club to wash cars in National City, in exchange for funeral donations."He was just like a happy person," said Sweetwater High School student, Sarah Seineke. "He was always around school laughing. He was really good person to everybody...that's why everyone is so affected by it."When members of Diego Style Car Club heard about Womack's tragic death, they knew they wanted to help.RELATED: Loved ones remember student who died at Sunset CliffsThe crew showed up to the Church of God of Prophecy on Epsilon Street and were set up to begin the washes by 8 a.m. that would go until the afternoon."It's been hard the last couple of days," said Llamas, who's daughter was close friends with Womack and asked for the fundraiser."When your kid hurts, you know we hurt also," he said. "She came to us and she asked us if we could do something for her friend."The community showed up, car after car stopped by the church leaving cash and comforting the teens who have lost someone who meant so much."I hope they remember his vibe as a person," said Seineke. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Hate crime charges were filed Monday against the Little Italy man accused of attacking three Muslim women wearing hijabs. Kyle Allen, 50, pleaded not guilty to battery in a San Diego courtroom following the Oct. 6 incident. The women were walking on Columbia Street when Allen approached them from the other direction. Witnesses said Allen lunged his shoulder into them, tried to remove one woman's hijab, then hit one of the women. RELATED: San Diego Police: Alleged attack on 3 women in hijabs a possible hate crime "As I got closer I heard him calling her names and telling them to go back to where they came from," a witness who only wanted to be identified as Amy told 10News. Passersby trailed Allen back to his high-rise apartment in Little Italy and called police. San Diego Police said Allen answered his front door while holding a handgun with a silencer. A total of 10 guns were found in Allen's home and seized, investigators said. Allen was arrested without incident.Protection orders are in place for the three women, keeping Allen from contacting them or coming within 100 yards.Allen will return to court Dec. 19 for a preliminary hearing. He faces up to four years, four months in prison if tried and convicted, according to the District Attorney's office. 1300

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Eighteen-year-old Joseph Preissman is getting ready for his very first day as a college student. But a mistake he made last December is dragging down his final days of summer."It'd be really great to just figure out why we're getting charged so much for something so little, and something that was, like, an accident," he said. The accident happened near Idyllwild. Preissman and a friend were returning from a hiking trip, when he said it hailed. Preissman was coming around a bend and lost control of his car, running into a freeway directional sign and splitting its wooden post. Nobody was hurt, so Preissman thought the accident was ancient history. That is, until July 31, when the Preissman family got a bill from Caltrans to replace the sign - totaling 7.95. All but about of that bill was for labor. "I could even understand half that cost, but I can't understand how it could possibly take three people, let's say from 8 in the morning to 12 in the afternoon, to repair that sign," said Daniel Preissman, Joseph's father. Caltrans spokeswoman Emily Leinen stood behind the bill. She said about 0 of it went to administrative fees. Much of the rest reimbursed the crews for going out to the area and replacing the 16-foot-tall post. They had to make sure it had the proper breaking points for driver safety. Leinen added one crew member had to keep watch for other cars coming around the bend."It's rocky road terrain out there, it’s a mountain, so unfortunately they had to do everything by hand on a blind corner," Leinen said. Caltrans did offer the Preissman's a 10% discount and a payment plan, but Daniel Preissman said even with that the bill is excessive. 1710
